Zul the Wipemaster

What a rough and awesome night all rolled into one.  I think the most demoralising thing about learning this fight is the difficulty with knowing what percent you are actually getting him to.

We started out the night all pumped up to kill a new boss. The guys were still on a high from their Vectis one shot – they were expecting it to be really hard and it wasn’t.

So Zul. The conversation was mildly distracting throughout most of the night:

Someone in the guild, who shall remain nameless, lead us down the path of depravity into learning what a stuntcock was.  Don’t look it up kiddies without adding reference to urban dictionary maybe.  The chat pretty much stayed in the gutter the entire night, thanks to Justin pulling out lines like this throughout the night.  I am glad Ben isn’t able to stream at the moment – it would be soooo rude.

We accidentally pulled the boss to start a couple of times, thanks to random things, however what was funny was we all made comment that it could only get better than 100% from here right?  How wrong could we be?  It was 100% all night because of the bloods.

However we did have a few low spots, we were getting to 50% consistently but generally we would get overrun with ads.

This started to be the common view.  We did however though, get him to 35% on one attempt and then consistently we were getting him to phase 2 with a very quickly end to the attempt after that.

We tried the zerg method (bunch up and focus on boss only to get him to 40% with Bloodhexers CC’d). I think we were just short of DPS to make this work and I am meaning a whisker close. If the guys pick up some new gear on Wednesday night they have a fair shot on Friday I think.   We also tried the method of control with focus on adds and on the couple of attempts I spent zero time on the boss and all my time running around chasing adds.

For some reason I kept being the person to jump into the purple puddles of death (they mostly spawned right next to me), and I noticed Zeirah was jumping in them a fair bit as well – I kept thinking she was Lana though as she was cat form when jumping into them and would change back to her normal self and I was so confused!!  I think I even called her Lana at once stage – my apologies lovely!!

I think the zerg method worked best and  we will be really close next week, if not killed.  Phase 2 is really hard – I have no idea how we are going to be able to handle all the adds that are up plus all the red crap on the ground. But hey that’s the fun of it right?

I read some strats (as I do) and noted that some strats mentioned moving the blood hexxer when they spawned to the side of their spawn location so a second one wouldn’t spawn on top. I would like to see how that works in practise as I am not sure how far they need to be from each other.  Almost need a DK or something to grab it to the point of a hunter trap or something.   I also read that because the boss can’t be tanked in the first phase, the tanks should be picking up the blood hexxers, which would also make moving them easier I think?  No idea but it sounded like it made the most sense. Not sure how that works for the tanks though but it might help with the super fast bloods!!

21 wipes in one night. It was expensive and fun. So much fun.
