Our Wednesday night raid did not go as expected in any way. It was like an event out of some weird TV sitcom that makes no sense from start to finish. I know on our last raid we were so close to getting him down, but it wasn’t looking promising when we started.
A 4% wipe. We seemed to forget about the cotton balls and people were dropping them like little fluffy farts all over the place. It was hectic. H.E.C.T.I.C
We had the same groups on the balls again – there are a couple of videos up on the youtube playlist (right hand side) showing the basketball tossing we do and Brian has added a tanking video. There is also all the streams from Ben which are available to watch if you are keen. Definitely worth checking out as I think the guild talks more rubbish than anything, but it lightens the tension.
Eventually though we got all our fluffy balls away from the raid, healers had a slither of mana left over and we had a couple of DPS up for the magnificent and wonderous event:
The death of G’huun. A Heart of Corruption achievement for completing the last 2 bosses and also the Guild Run achievement. AMAZING!
Look at us handsome people. We are definitely Champions of Azeroth imho. I am pretty proud of my guild, we really haven’t spent all that long on any of the bosses and we generally get them down after a solid night of progress. Testament to Nelly running heroic/mythic version with the other guild as she knows the ins and outs of the strats which aren’t really obvious when just reading through or watching videos.
This is where the weirdness begins. We had to start attempting heroic because well, we had cleared everything in Normal! WOO! (I am still on a high for having gotten through it relatively quickly, it was opened on the 5th September and has taken us 3 weeks to get through).
We decide to Kill Heroic Taloc. Yeah we made a group decision to do it.
The blood puddles were a mess, apparently (like the other night on Mythrax) people don’t know which is the middle area (or their left and right)…even when markers are down. So it got a little scary in some parts trying to lay down blood and not get cornered, but we did manage to get it done. Overall without Nelly being firm about when to move and how far to move on the platform to avoid the lasers we wouldn’t have gotten this.
MOTHER was next up because we still had most of a raid night to go, it seemed about the same as a fight except for the extra laser beams which come from the roof and the beams moving much faster down the room. The wind is also much stronger. I don’t usually get snaggled in it, but the first couple almost had my feathers charred. I noticed on the next ones there is a flow visual a few seconds before the actual wind so if you go in the opposite direction in preparation you can get some extra breathing room. Completely screws the casting ability this fight as you are constantly moving from fire, wind and lasers.
Just took us a couple of attempts and then voila! Most of us alive, no spawns getting their casts off and another Heroic boss down. It seemed so much more difficult when we started it. This is going to be a horrid fight if you lose concentration for a millisecond. No room for errors at all.
Of course we tried another one after getting her down, why not hey? At this point it is lunacy to be clearing this with only a few attempts to learn the new mechanics but I was pretty happy with our efforts. Off to Fetid Devourer and the conversation at some point devolved into worse than gutter talk. I am meaning adult xxx content. I was laughing so hard. It is fun to be playing with adults who don’t appear to have any issues with the more cheeky subjects of sex, bear arses and pussies on faces.
Fetid Devourer managed to kick us in the face repeatedly. We were actually doing ok to start but it was just a little hectic with the new mechanic for the add spawns. We were improving but really slowly. So we called it a night with a complete clear of Uldir and a solid start on heroic mode. It is awesome,m such a great night.
