A few weeks ago I asked my buddies if they wanted to get the Lucid Nightmare mount and for a multitude of reasons we never managed to actually get a time for us to be online as a group. (Explains why no mythics either hey?) So…hubby and I sort of…did it anyway…without them.
I do feel pretty bad, but having done it now; we could help them get through it faster 🙂 if we can hook up a time.
From everything I had read it was going to be a rough ride and I can definitely agree with that sentiment. I think all up it took us about 6 hours, split over 2 nights. Not really all that bad but it is sometimes rage inducing without the proper knowledge.
There are many guides about it so I won’t go into all that much detail but some parts I will mention. We essentially used the guide in the comments section here by Nightswifty. Bless their heart whoever they are!
It starts in Curios & Moore uptairs; find the scroll, click the scroll, get the clue and then head to Ulduar. How anyone figures out these things, I have no idea, but props to them because they are legendary. Simply legendary. Apparently this clue pointed to the release date of Ulduar…WTF?
Kill XT and clear his room and crack a leaver on the NW side of the room, click the lights in a pattern that apparently resembles a cog? (Sure…it does…if you squint real hard?)
Head to AQ40 and past C’Thun’s room near the quest givers there is a table and you have to play the JewelCraft game except this time it is all Old god images. I want this version – like a glyph or something I can use to change mine.
You have to get 5 brains in a row, I just kept playing until it happened. Hubby finished before me even though I had to explain how to even play it. <hurumpf>
You have to get a Shadoweave Mask from the AH or a tailor if they have the pattern, ours were $4000 each when we did this. Then head to Deepholm and search for a fissure in the ground which is nowhere near the circling worm deep in an underground cave, just head into the actual cave areas and search near the large rocks. We hunted around the worm for ages thinking it was near him. It wasn’t.
You fall through the ground, find a chair equip your mask, touch the skull and then find out you have to go to Gnomer. You play with some gears, fiddle with some knobs, then find out you have to go to Val’sharah. In the house with the crazy bird Wraithtalon out the front. He attacked me when doing the puzzle as well, so I suggest you stand toward the back of the house.
You click on a brain and start a puzzle which is all dots and red lines. You need to make all the lines blue.
Tips:
- They are separate shapes and not one together so I ended up with 5 different smaller shapes.
- You need to click two of the dots to swap at a time. That is how you move the lines around.
Hubby also finished this one before me and had to tell me how to swap the lines around as I was just clicking randomly…and badly.
You then head to the hell hole that is the Endless Halls. I cannot stress enough – under no circumstances should you do this part without getting the Lucid Nightmare Helper mod. If you prefer rage, anger, hatred and your conversion to the dark side to have begun at this point in your life – ignore the above.
It maps the direction you go and allows you to back track. You mark when you hit an orb or a rune and then just follow yourself back to the spots. It can be time consuming but it is way easier than drawing maps, using excel or running randomly through hell – and we tried both methods and this was by far the easier one.
Tips:
- Do not pick up any orbs until you have all the orbs and runes marked on your map. Once used they disappear and you have no point of reference.
- Don’t bother wasting time marking which way the rooms are blocked in the mod – you don’t need it if you just back track.
- The map changes every day and is different for each character. If you login and out on the same day, you have to start again but the map will be the same.
- I have no idea if I should have linked or skipped the rooms when the mod asked me but in the end I managed to just back track anyway thanks to the numbering.
- This took us about an hour to complete, possibly 1.5. I don’t know…I was so exhausted by the end.
Once complete you head to Karazhan, you are looking for the crypt next to the pet battle lady.
You had into the crypt and you need to find the lower part. There is a hole that you need to jump down which lands into a pool of water. If you run out ahead of you there will be a underwater pool of death which is horrific called the Upside Down sinners.
The entire chamber is people hanging up side down. Freaky as hell. You have gone too far if you end up in there anyway but if you don’t mind being freaked the hell out go and have a swim with them. There are some support beams to the right as you come out of the hole and that is the way to the prize!
Look at us with out treasure box!! So ecstatic to be staring at this box!
I cannot say if the mount was worth it or not, but I am very happy to have it 🙂 Good luck to everyone chasing this one – it is very pretty and has purple hoof prints and does a twirling prancy thing when you the space bar.
Im so glad you got it done its such a pretty pony.
Grats 🙂
I really like the glowly hoof prints left behind 😀 and the dance it does when you spacebar. Thanks for giving me the inspiration to do it.
