As you may be aware at the moment I am suffering a severe head cold. The type that makes your face painful all over with sinus gunk. I haven’t been at work the last 2 days and I wasn’t sure I was really even capable of raiding but I made an appearance because, well, aside from being an addict, I didn’t want to let the team down on progression night.
I confirmed with Chris if it was ok if I streamed the raid, for my literally zero followers, and assured him that should it affect my game play in anyway I would stop it immediately.
Brian logged on and advised that his internet was munted. 4000k latency. Possible fibre break. I wondered who my tanking buddy would be for the night especially on a new boss. Stupid internet.
I was asking who could tank in guild chat and Simon popped up and mentioned he could and if I am being honest that terrified me. Some people are just too good at this game. I mean on a basic level I was proud of my almost 13000k hp. He was over 13! I nearly cried seeing it! Why am i unable to get 2 pieces of gear replaced RNjeebus! Why?!?
I got super nervous about tanking with Si and managed to kill Chris on the way past with my fel bombardment but that was after Si sent me flying towards the boss with his first batch and it rattled me. I am blaming him anyway. Then I was trying to avoid the green pathway of death and has to go out the other side instead of the normal but then had another pathway form right next to me and I couldn’t get out. It was ridiculous.
We headed straight to Aggramar to get him down again and it took a few attempts to get the adds right again. Once again spawn positions were a bit off so causing confusion.
Si and I were tanking the boss differently though in relation to the taunts which seemed better in my opinion.
Usual:
Mel: Foe breaker defensive
Brian: Rend with group.
Brian runs through and I swap with him to the group
Brian: Foe Breaker
Mel: Rend with the group
Last night:
Mel: Foe Breaker
Mel runs through to the group
Mel: Rend with group
Si: Taunts for Foe Breaker
Mel: Rend with the group
I found last night it meant the boss was moving less and it was easier to keep him in a central positon. I can’t be sure though did due to my headcold.
It was much better for the raid and ranking imho. Anyway after multiple attempts and finally a decidedly enjoyable kill (all being streamed with zero framerste issues on my laptop to record breaking viewer numbers of zero!) we headed to Argus.
I stopped and started the feed again so the video was split betwen the two events.
Argus is one of those fights where you want to be confident you know what you are doing and you feel ok but then it does something and you are all WTF?!? in the moment;
Thankfully as tank, in the first phase nothing much happens, we taunt, we swap, we get the buff and drop it in the completely wrong spot for the DPS. There was some issues with the third cone of death 💀 and the transition which was one of our stopping blocks. The second phase is ok just talking amongst tanks re the swap unless people (who shall remain nameless) run away from the great big glowing bear butt to die in a corner because they just weren’t paying attention. Third phase can go DIAF.
Grabbing the add with the little swords – which sounds so much worse when i say it like that – is nigh on impossible. I believe the term used last night by Nelly was “SURPRISE!”; I screamed after my add disappeared. I may have missed that bit entirely when watching the video.
The next time we got to phase 3 I was so diligent watching for the next spawn that I thought I had missed it even though it was hitting me because someone was calling out for aid!!
Or maybe I had the wrong add and everyone was too polite to say. You think I joke – it took about 10 minutes to give one piece of loot to someone as everyone was passing for the next person and going around in a loop 🙂
No matter though as our best attempt was 8%. It was pretty amazing. We will be going back on Friday to kill that bugger and hopefully I won’t be sick.
By the end of the stream we had a couple of people watching and telling me it looked and sounded ok – so if it goes well I might continue doing it 🙂
