This weeks shared topic is brought to us by Akabeko at Red Cow Rise and it is a doozy!!
Canon refers to the actual events and characters that exist in a fictional world. Headcanon refers to any situations or characters that are imagined by fans of said fictional world. Sometimes they are silly, like the fact that Garrosh’s favorite treat is lemon squares. Sometimes they are serious, like positing that tauren store grief in the lungs. For my writing, I’ve come up with a lot of headcanon. Got a theory about a torrid romance between your favorite auctioneer and the patrolling guard? Given any thought to where mounts and pets go when they aren’t summoned? Do you know how your characters do their laundry, or what Baine Bloodhoof does in his free time? What are your headcanons, and where did you get the idea?
This is going to be a very long post 🙂 I have so much head cannon it will take me a while to post it all! I am just going to talk about my personal characters because they are the people I spend the most time with.
So let’s start in order with my Mage 🙂 She was technically born in elwynn forest on a lovely rainy night. She was not supposed to be born due to her parents heritage – their love was forbidden – so she grew up living a nomadic lifestyle, moving from place to place, raised by many different aunts and uncles until she was old enough to strike out on her own. She does not have a chip about this as she is well aware she is loved by her parents and had a fantastic upbringing.
Growing up she learnt many things, alchemy, tailoring, herbalism, even some basic enchanting, she can cook, fish, perform CPR and dig up dirt. She got her weapon skills maxed and her hand to hand combat training completed to advanced level. She put her heart into everything she did – if it was worth doing, it was worth doing well.
She has mastered all three magics of fire, arcane and frost, but it took a lot of practice and patience to get to the level of proficiency she is at today. The mage side of her life was never an easy thing for her to learn, but she always did well because of her love of knowledge, and knowing her parents were watching her every move made it even more difficult to fail.
She generally has a shower and washes her hair at the end of the day. Killing people and all manner of creatures tend to leave blood splatter, and sometimes she still singes her hair a little bit with her fireballs. We won’t mention that she has even frost nova’d herself by accident before, that was a fun explanation to Arcanist Xylem.
She has a quick breakfast, cheese and bread with yoghurt is her favourite, for lunch she packs some roast meats, (Clefthoof / Talbuk /Basilisk being the most common meats) and chopped vegetables mostly, and she is partial to all manner of seafoods for her evening meal. She enjoys cooking over campfires and can be found a lot just camping in the wild, fishing and relaxing under the stars. She has more photos of the skies over each continent than of anything else.
All her mounts are kept in a purpose built stable at the back of her compound, she is always adding to it. She ports home to change her mount at least 2 times a day if not more. Her companions have one large room shared between them all, except for the particularly aggressive ones, which are separately caged) they are all quite happy to share the space. The Xmas gnomes keep things more entertained than need be I think.
I could go on, but I won’t. This has dragged out enough, but you get the picture, I think a lot about her and her life. Stuff comes and goes. So brief run downs on my other toons – which probably have the same level detail if I let them.
My warrior has a penchant for drinking, women and loud parties – he hangs out in Thunder bluff a lot because he likes Tauren women the best…something about soft fur and mooing…I tend to shut him up when he starts 🙂 He has a good heart though and is pretty funny, the guy likes wearing purple 🙂 He always has drinks in his bag…always…he tends to sleep late and hates being woken up by anything other than either a stiff drink or a warm nuzzle.
My druid is a very quiet girl, she prefers soaring above Org than being in the middle of it all. She likes solitude and is a very confident oomkin. She doesn’t care what other people think of her, or how others perceive her. Although quiet and solitary she enjoys herself and has a slight fetish for any gear which had feathers or fur on it.
My pally thinks of herself as a warrior girl. Fight to the death, with an attitude. She will tell you how it is and how you want it, and when you are going to get it. I have a very hard time curbing her temper when she is tanking. She likes to wear smutty gear to prove to others she is better then what their initial thoughts of her are. I am having real trouble trying to get her used to the idea of eating things that she has not killed herself, fish feasts are a massive issue 🙂 I am not sure she has a soft side..I am trying to locate it and I suspect she will be a spinster the rest of her life.
My mage is “technically” married to my hubbys Rogue, my hunter is married to his druid, our warlocks are married.
I haven’t really worked out my other toons yet, I don’t get to play them much to have developed a rapport with them. Perhaps in time 🙂
**I know I am weeks late with this, but I have backdated it and added it in anyway because it was an immense post that I didn’t get published before I went away!**
