This week’s Blog Azeroth topic is from Frinka At Warcraft Street.
If it were possible, would you want Blizzard to put all characters in a single realm/game world by realm type — PvP vs PvE vs RP? Why or why not?
I am hoping I have understood this topic correctly, because I would love nothing more than to have entirely separate realms based on game type.
Of course in my perfect world, the developers for Blizzard would be just inundated with so many things they have to balance it would be unfair really 🙂
I would have servers dedicated to purely PVE content, but that would mean no PVP stats, talents, gear, dailies etc. I would love just more dungeons, more raids and more PVE!!
I would just scrap PVP entirely :p because let’s face it..only the really crazy people do that right?!?!? On a serious note, I think PVP should have it’s own server where you get the first 10 levels without any actual PVP, then it is all guns blazing all the time. I am not entirely sure that would work though, I can’t imagine you would ever get anything done. But you could have talents and specs created purely for PVP with so many extra things.
And RP, doesn’t sort of work without being on either PVE or PVP, but I would make it really strict on the actual RP side of things. Like naming conventions and language etc, have it properly monitored – somehow :p I would enjoy being on an RP-PVE server if it actually felt like RP was going on. I have tried in the past, but when I log in see names like “horsey” or whatever, I lose interest.
A few things to note – I am of the perception that both PVE and PVP create entirely different players. I am not a PVPer. My brain does not cope with having to anticipate a players move – it is far too random for me. PVE, I know what is going to happen, I know what the boss will do..I know we have to push out x amount of DPS or heals to beat an encounter. Some mechanics are random yes, but they are an expected random – is that even possible? Players are completely and utterly random, I cannot know what they will hit for, or what they will do next.
I am not suggesting either player is better or worse than the other, although I have noted in the past a trend for PVP servers to have higher raid progression than PVE servers…theory being that you learn your class better and therefore can perform better overall.
I think having separate realms would be horrible though in actuality, there are a lot of people that enjoy both aspects and like being able to do them on the same server as all their friends – I would hate forcing that decision on people.
If I am really truthful, I would probably enjoy PVP if it wasn’t so hard to get started in. They need to have like, baby pvp or something (maybe they do?) but matches with other people that have little to no pvp gear like you. I can’t stand going into a match at this level because I have PVP gear I get basically one shot, and it annoys the hell out of me. This annoyance has led me to the belief that all PVPers are crazy! If I was to jump into PVP tonight, I don’t even have the crafted blues – but even if I did, I would still be well behind the other people in the match – gear wise.
Anyway, I have gone on for long enough so will shut up, and sum up by saying that yes, I would probably like them to be separated but that is because I suck at one of them and don’t want to be reminded of that fact daily!
