Yes!! That titles sounds wrong, but soooo right, I am going to leave it!
I was home along the other night and attempted LFR which failed miserably, so was standing around when I got a message from my friend Aza to say I could tag along with their mount farming! HELL YES! I asked, hopefully, if we could do my last ICC achievement on LK.
It seems this blogging award has finally made it into the wowverse. It has taken a pretty long time to make the skip from personal blog land to Azeroth. I was handing out Liebster awards (and a multitude of other ones) a couple of year ago on my old personal blogs, it is really nice to see it has been picked up in this part of the blogsphere I like the sense of community it creates.
It was pretty cool to be nominated by Cymre actually and I also found out that Thela/Jstmel nominated me as well :) So as has been the fashion this last couple of days – (and mine is later than most) here is my Q&A, I have included all the questions I have been asked:
1. What is your earliest memory in WoW?
My earliest memory was before I had started playing and my friend was showing us how good the game was. He was a druid running around in the badlands, changing forms and killing rock elementals and it was amazing! I was completely in love with the game.
2. What is your favourite activity when playing?
Raiding. I like working with other people to kill bosses, there is a sense of achievement that I don’t get anywhere else for being part of team and problem solving issues that are not real life related.
3. What is your best WoW memory?
I have so many good WoW memories – I have been playing too long!! If I had to pick one memory to keep and all the rest were going to get wiped, I would say it was The Dark Within clearing Kara It was the guild we built up from nothing – we created the environment, we pushed the people to do the content. It was awesome.
4. If you could have any title in WoW, what would it be?
Probably the Insane – I started it a while ago, but really all the grind just made me bored, not insane, so I gave up
5. What is one thing in-game you could not live without?
My Elemental Mage Staff – it was one of the first ever epics I won when I hit 60. It was mine!
6. What is your favourite item in-game and why?
My Frostbrood Dragon from ICC – yeah it is the second best dragon in the entire game and I love it because the first time I saw the Wrath cinematic I knew I had to have that dragon. I am one achievement off the 25 man and I will have that soon as well.
7. Who was the first character you created and do you still play them?
My mage and yes. Since May 2005!
8. If you could design any transmog piece, what would it be and why?
hrmm, I think I don’t have an answer – aside from there needs to be more items with sparkles or glow (or funky effects).
9. Who inspired you to start blogging?
My good friend in Sydney – but I started blogging personally and it got overrun with WoW content
10. What is the first thing you’ll do when WoD is live?
Level to 100 and take a million screenshots and make billions of posts no doubt
11. What was your biggest noobish mistake?
I have them every week….the most recent was changing my spec and not realising i needed to actually use the button I had just changed to :p
1.) How did you get started playing WoW?
As above – same as my earliest memory.
2.) What other games were you playing when you discovered WoW?
Guild wars (I was hardcore man, nothing was better than GW!!!), Rise of Nations, Diablo2, Warcraft, Pharaoh, Zeus.
3.) Did you create your blog because of WoW or another reason?
Because of WoW – specifically to keep it separate from my person al blog.
4.) What is your least favorite zone and why?
Hellfire peninsula – and ONLY because when DK’s came out, I think the hubby and I created over 10 of them, and never took them anywhere…so we have done level 61- 63 far too many times…would you believe we have deleted them all as well so we need to start it all over AGAIN!! GAHHHHH
5.) What old raid/dungeon do you miss most and why?
Kara – it was fun and well paced – the fights had a theme that was different but enjoyable. I am not sure what it was about it, but it was so much fun and I wonder if that was because we had been soooo bored with Vanilla it was just exciting to be doing something new? I don’t know…but it was a great raid.
6.) If you could be a dungeon/raid boss, what would your tag lines (the things you would shout at players as they beat upon you) be?
You can’t touch this!!! then do an MC hammer dance :p
7.) Do you recall your first feelings about WoW and what were they?
I was amazed that I could throw fireballs with my hands…I was completely taken in with the universe.
8.) What aggrivates you most about WoW as it is today and why?
Honestly, the people. The fact that a large percentage of the population cannot be nice to other human beings. Really pisses me off. It is zoo hard to just be nice?
9.) Horde or Alliance and why?
I don’t care – as long as I can play my mage
10.) What is your favorite movie and why?
Burlesque – Cher and Aquilera…there is nothing else that needs to be said!
11.) What is your favorite song and why?
Honestly, I can’t answer this question…I have so many favourites…like a stupid amount of songs that I can listen to over and over ….S4 – she is my girl, Adele – Rolling in the deep, Nemesea – In control, Margaret Berger – Feed you my love, Emmelie De Forest – Only teardrops, Anberlin – Hello Alone….god the list could just go on and on.
OK, so I will be honest, I have spent the last few 30 minutes trying to find people that I haven’t seen nominated anywhere (that I think would deb keen to do this) and I could find none. So, please…anyone on my blogroll – please know I read you and I would have nominated you had it not already been done! I love all your blogs and I read as much as I can.
You don’t need awards to tell you how fantastic you are and how much fun and smiles you bring to my life! Thanks to those who nominated me, I feel very honoured and special right now
After hubby dinged 90 on his rogue, we decided to do some LFR (first failed one since the boosters so we have been lucky) we had been waiting almost 15 minutes by the time Faithless said she were heading to the Brawlers guild for the first time! It had been a while since I had been back so I thought I would go and lend some moral support and maybe give a shot or two.
Mctacky turned up as well and between the three of us, I am sure we annoyed the raiders in the guild by waffling on about brawling :p But we were having so much fun cheering each other on and kicking butt.
Faith was moving through the bosses at a breakneck pace and sounded pretty excited to be doing it – I think the expectation was worse then the actual doing I know I was nervous my first time, but now look at me:
Rank 7 and still dying to bosses :) The first fight in rank 7 was really annoying me…I think lag plays such an issue in this arena, my character would be out of the circle on my screen and away from damage however I got blown up multiple times as if I was in the circle…I know 500ms isn’t that huge but I reckon it may be enough. In the end I just continually ran around the boss basically and ice lanced him….LOL…was stupid but effective.
Even Sev popped his head in for a spin after raid time, but he is on the boss I am fearing the most – I have seen it before and I agree with Sev, it may be the boss that stops me from continuing!! The Hex one with the pink maze you have to face or something…EEEP!!
In the end, our queue took 45 minutes to pop, and we were in there for about 15, we left after the second wipe because they wouldn’t wait for a second tank, hubby went off to pick some more flowers and I went back to brawling. Such a fun night!! I really enjoy doing the other things in the game with guildies and just having a laugh.
A couple of weeks ago I happened to be online at the right time to join in one of their runs.
OLRG is run by Matty and they do random raids and just go and have some fun.
I was pretty nervous about going as I only knew a couple of people in the raid and well..I am a little shy. My only level 90 toon is currently my druid and so I advised Matty and she asked if i could tank. EEP! IN theory I could tank – but never having tank don my druid could be a little difficult. I had changed my druid to bear recently because after everyone left my previous guild I thought I amy need to help out, but had done nothing since then.
So, there I was about to tank Firelands on a toon with half tank and half boomy gear….and I was thinking I was going to completely fail and look like a twat! I didn’t fail horribly, however it turns out I can’t tank on my druid worth a damn I couldn’t hold aggro or even get aggro and I had no idea what I was doing, I was button mashing like a crazy person but it was fun.
Here are the piccies of the boss kills My Druid has now been to Firelands. The only negative from today is that I really really really want to get in there on my mage and get my embers so I can get m legendary!!!
I figured I should post a quick update about the move to the guild and how it is going.
We have been slowly moving toons across – the latest were our shammies, which took 3 days to process thanks to the Blizzard backlog . Hubby feels really happy about this guild (not having ever spent much time with them like me) and he really likes their raiding environment from the few flex raids we have done with them. There is the general banter but also the ability to ask questions and receive answers without being made to feel like an incompetent idiot who can’t tell a tank apart from a DPS because they are wearing a skirt…oh, excuse me…a kilt. (TL;DR version – I gave a debuff to the tank because I didn’t check the name of the person I was giving it to….never going to live that down).
We missed Garrosh flex last night but got in on the Wing 1 – they went in reverse order, I scored a couple more secretes but no gear upgrades :( Their raid times are probably too late for us to realistically be part of any raid team, however we are doing flex with them on Saturdays when we can make it. Saturday night has never been an ideal raid night simply as that’s the night we organise to see friends because we can’t see them during the week due to our travel times (fingers crossed that may change in a couple of months), but we go to the raids we can make.
They are fun to chat to and they have a laugh and really we have been enjoying our time with them immensely. I am not sure about their normal raid team which was running heroics…they didn’t run the other night due to lack of numbers (this concerns me as I don’t want to be cursing this guild with my presence!! (TL;DR version of this one – every time me and hubby join a guild together it quickly flies downhill and disbands even when people say there are no issues ), so I just hope it was a once off and that even the silence below was not confirmation…LOL.
I wish I had the timestamps on the above as it was about 5 minutes, in the end she never did message me back :p
On a more fun note I have been ninjaing as many photos of guildies I can during raids – it has been funny to try and sneak piccies in without them knowing…I am sure they think I am only slightly crazy, but they don’t know they full extend to which my madness flows!! LOL
Anyway, I have been enjoying my time with them and I hope against all hope….that everything continues to grow because I do not want to want to find another home when this one seems to be so great
I am no longer a Brawling Virgin. I decided to just jump in today and see how badly I could fail. Turns out…I did better than I expected I would do. I am currently level 6 and it really didn’t take all that long. I stupidly, attempted a level 7 mob from the start and I think I was a little confused about how easy that one would be. I had a quest from my garden which gave me a challenge card….after dying about 4 times, I decided I would just start from the beginning
Bruce was so darn easy…I was fine up until I got to :
It took me about 10 attempts to kill him, I was so frustrated by the end of it, but I kept getting caught in his ground effect even though it looked as though my toon was well out of the way – clearly blink doesn’t work as well as I expected :p In the end I kicked his butt!!!!
I did manage to fudge through one boss, for some reason, someone was in the ring fighting their boss and I got pulled in for mine – at the same time – but when the other guy killed his mob it counted towards me having killed mine. Confused? I know I am still wondering how that happened, it was completely weird…
Hubby decided to come and join me as well, and we were cheering each other on as you do. I do love the cam view you can use which makes it look like you are right in the arena with them…pretty cool really.
I will definitely be going back to the brawlers guild, it was a lot of fun and gives you some other small thing to challenge yourself with. I like it. A lot! Anyone else out there doing this?
I had a brilliant idea whilst trying to think of things for the shared topics on blog Azeroth, so in summation, we can blame Fimlys and Hydra for what is about to happen here at Azerothian Life. Inspired by stupidity perhaps, however without further ado – I have decided to hold a transmogging contest!!
Honestly I think it is a fantastic idea which can celebrate the many different cultures and countries we all spawn from! With Australia day looming close, I felt it was a great day to get this event started! You can read about it on this page!
The judges I have managed to wrangle together (no actual wrangling occurred…we were out of jelly and not near any mud :p ) are none other than the brilliant, gorgeous, talented and very likeable trio of Navimie, Cymre and Kamalia!! Woot Woot!
The event will run over 12 weeks and as it is not starting until the 26th January 2014 you have plenty of time to familiarise yourself with the details, start working on outfits and contact us for any questions you may have.
It will be a tight schedule of an outfit a week, but as most people are transmogging genii, I don’t think you will struggle at all!! I will be sending out updates and confirmations on twitter, so follow me @dragonray to be kept in the loop.
Please spread the word, we are currently in the process of sourcing prizes so we will keep you up to date. Donations of prizes for winners are also welcome and would be very warmly received!
I was amazed at the oufits people put in and have found some new items I am going to have to try and find, then replicate outfits.
Overall I won a silver medal for my hammer throw design and I was so ecstatic to even have been considered for a medal.
I also came close on another outfit, but overall I was thrown out of the packs pretty early
I think the judges must have had a horrible time trying to sort through over 40 entries for each event, I think they did a fantastic job sticking with it.
I guess the thing with transmog is it is a very personal thing, the outfits I preferred were generally earlier on in the events, and didn’t make it very far into the placings. However I was having fun trying to guess who did what outifts based on their own personal styles
Overall, it was fantastic, and I think everyone had a great time doing it and participating in the event. I am jealous that my outfits didn’t win every single event – except for my discus event which even I thought sucked! I am also jealous that I didn’t get to judge them either…HAAHHA !! cake and eat it syndrome I know
JD has even created an entire website dedicated to all the outfits – it will be updated over time so be sure to keep checking it out
This was one of the most exciting things I have ever done in the community, and I have amazed myself at how insane I got about checking websites for updates, and comparing all the outfits and just drooling over shields, headpieces, weapons…words can not express how awesome this was
Thanks everyone who was involved with this. You are all awesome.
The Javenlin transmogs are out!
Congratulations to the winners again, seems there were a couple of ties for places and althoughI got close to a medal I was far enough off to be crushed by the competition My page updated as usual!
I went on a LBR this morning to Ulduar
We started off with barely 10 of us and by the end we had swelled to 20, new people being added every couple of bosses or so. It was pretty enjoyable, slightly scary to start off as JD was “tanking” (he had tank gear on right, that counts???) and all of us were stealing aggro like maniacs, I am surprised we didn’t have more death to be honest. He was a trooper though!!
We killed everything except Yogg and Algalon. Although we gave both of those bosses 1 attempt – I thought we should have given them each another try, given these are LBR people don’t know the fights, they come to them with very little experience and I think it is a little harsh to expect people to do the right thing first time in.
We wiped on FL as we left all the towers up – but I blame the game for that as my buttons could not be used during the fght from about halfway – I don’t remember ever having that issue, so perhaps it was a mechanic I have forgotten, but it seemed a little glitchy to me. We then killed all the towers, or so we thought, and spanked him down with the freezing tower up.
We wiped on Ignis with so much damage going on not surprising really, and I think we only had one healer at that stage – correct me if I am wrong. Then we got a couple more people in and killed him. I spent most of the time in his crotch pot, which was sweaty and disgusting!!!
Razor we smashed out of this world – and killed her before she took off again, XT we killed the heart on and then managed to smack him to bits which was also pretty cool. We killed the council without too much trouble although it was a little messy.
Kologarn we were trying to get the achievement for not killing his arms, but discovered that an unnamed guildie of mine was attacking the right arm instead of the chest, so we managed to kill him, but without the achievement We went to Hodir next and managed to get both chests open on that one, I think people got caught in the first flash freeze, ut then after that it was just the NPC’s mainly, so that was pretty good if you ask me, it is one hell of a messy fight! Auriya killed us by accident as we were taking too long in killing some adds, so we came back in and she layed some smack down on our tank – literally one hit wonder- I swear!! We got her on the third attempt as we had a couple of others come in to supplement, and she went down like a sack of potatoes.
Freya got pulled before we were ready, and although we lasted quite a while, it was a little premature – given we left all three extras up for hard mode, so we reset her and then came back in and got her easily without the extra extra adds. That is one hell of a messy fight and never ever ceases to amaze me!! Then we did Thorim and spanked the bejesus out of him not very exciting at all, my guildies main concern was the lack of Jorgmunger at the start Mimiron was easy, although I dc’d just as the middle bit started firing at me, and by the time I got back in I was dead in flames!!
I spent most of the fight wanding it up against General Vesax and just sort of doing nothing, then failed miserably on Yogg, I went in and killed the tentacles and then went insane because of the stupid stupid skull sucking insane thing. Algalon, would have gone ok, except we had lost a fair few by then due to lunch, so we called it after the wipe on him.
All in all, I had a very very enjoyable run today, it was nice to just be chilling out and not really paying attention to much except having a laugh. There were so many people getting achivements!! It was amazing, I was so excited for them all to be getting them
The most embarrassing moment of course is me telling my hubby that Kerise was Kamalia and I was far too chicken to even talk to her….so he actually SAYS THAT in raid chat!
*embarrasmment crits for 1000000 overkill*
Then when she had to leave I got this whisper, and the coolest thing I could think of to say back…..was with a smiley face….seriously!??!!? I suck!
There were a few other bloggers in there that I was all excited to see the names of, but I couldn’t bring up the courage to chat to them privately so I just stuck to chatting in raid chat
