Where did I go?

So yeah, things got super crazy! I got lost in some timey whimey vortex and here we are. 4 months since my last post…seems incredible to me.

I have been taking screenshots with the intentions of posting them…maybe I will post a small collection in the next couple of days as gallery so you can see all the things I wanted to talk about 🙂 A mini catch up of sorts .

The guild struggled after the announcement of the new patch to continue pushing content, so we stalled at Heroic Mekkatorque for numbers. We just couldn’t get people online to even run raids. This makes me super sad, because I would have loved to have completed AOTC with them. We just need a little focus from people and we would kill things, I know we would.

We went to NZ for 3 weeks in May, which was cut short by my Mother in Law getting deathly ill. So we spent another few weeks having to go back and forth between Wodonga and Melbourne to ensure she was ok.

Then one of our good friends returned to WoW and we did everything we could to get him to 120 by running dungeons, questing and LFR to get him geared as well.

In between all of that, I started a new job and my focus mentally has been on doing the best I can, but it takes a toll on mental reserves in the evening and our friends Ben and Oui officially decided to move to Melbourne. Since they will be staying with us we have been trying to clean out the rooms for them with moving furniture and our junk around the place. It has just been super hectic in our personal lives. My blogging has taken a back seat because it was just not possible to get it all done.

I feel like I have some breathing room now, so I hope to start posting more!! I am sorry to everyone for just disappearing!!

Coin showers of killing

Every single time I giggle like a child. Coin showers. It just makes me laugh. I am juvenile…yes I know.

We went back in with a plan…of killing Opulence. The guys had done the first bosses on Wednesday and had done some normals as well when it got too much to handle.

We messed up the rooms a couple of times with people dying early due to “stupidity”, healers walking away from their pc’s instead of accepting resses and people dropping their burning gold poop in melee. But we seemed to just know it better I think. I actually survived on the kill which is about as 50/50 chance these days 🙂

4/9H

We did manage to kill her/it/him though after about the 3rd attempt. As you can see most of us were alive and communication was good. It worked well and even the adds were not too much trouble this time. Extra mass entanglement helps I think, but it never seems to last long enough 🙂

We headed to council next. What a messed up fight – I note I will likely be saying this about all fights – there seems to be so much to focus on everything else but attacking the main boss in these BoD fights. They are so busy.

I didn’t think this would be as hard as it was simply because of one extra mechanic by a frog, but it lifts the level enough to be annoying when it is botched. The main issue of everyone getting centrally underneath Paku but fast enough to not be the farthest away at any given point except for someone else….my god….just horrific. There must be an easier way.

Kimbal 2 %

Our best attempt was one of our first, we killed Gonk and had Kimbal at 2%, so we just had 2 more aspects to go. I am not sure why we kept going worse. That is a habit our guild has and I am very curious about the psychology behind it if I am honest. One of the other super annoying habits of my wonderfully stubborn guild mates is the need to change what we are doing after 1 attempt, just give it a couple of attempts to let people settle into the fight before going all balls to walls on changes, it just makes it confusing.

We also had comments about how much harder healing was without Nibblepie holding up the team 🙂 I am not sure I am meant to say anything but you know I couldn’t help it. But like Nibblepie when Ben isn’t around casts that we don’t even know exist start going off; I miss the days where Ben would say when he interrupted things. Of course none of that is important when you have DPS doing 40k on trash mobs (looking at you Jon, Oui, Ben and Simon) and making everyone else feel so insufficient as players. I have no idea how Chris is feeling with the news his spec is the lowest on the charts for the last 2 weeks, maybe time to go back to his warrior?

We gave up after a few shots and then went back into normal mode and smashed this boss in the face and Rastakan as well 🙂 For my efforts I was rewarded with something of immense joy.

I know a lot of the people I follow are already in mythic level and have their AOTC achievements, but what about the rest of us plebs – where are you sitting at?

Mastering the masters

So I am not entirely sure we can say we mastered them perfectly, but we did kill the blue and green MnM duo.

I went in terrified about the going upstairs phase, mainly because I remember Ben mocking all dead people last time about how it isn’t hard to do. But I guess a week of gear and some extra practise meant we didn’t even get to the phase, we timed our blood lust just right and managed to kill her very quickly after her transition. We didn’t get thrown up into the air! I would say that is mastering them 🙂 Just pump out the DPS so you can avoid mechanics is my favourite part of raiding.

I have too many boss kill photos dead….I need to pay Nibble and Nelly more money 3/9H

We then spent the rest of the night smashing out Opulence. It is very unforgiving in Heroic mode with damage, if you get hit by something it is generally good night. But there was one attempt where my side did no DPS (just avoided mechanics) for about 5 minutes so the other side could catch up (due to death, not a DPS issue) because we just wanted to get through to the Opulence room and see the actual fight.

I apparently killed Nibblepie with some well placed gold, monks apparently don’t like gold being dropped at their feet. But I swear it wasn’t me because I remember getting it just after his death and using my bound backward spell to get out of everyone’s way. I felt super bad about having killed him. I don’t like killing other people when raiding let alone when I die myself. I shall be hyper vigilant next time.

Opulence – 65%

Our best attempt on him was about 65% and with only managing to get to him 2 times in total. I think that was a fair effort. The adds that spawn move so much faster as well and we simply didn’t have enough time to kill them. I think that is going to be a fun challenge, especially with the golden coin showers (ewwww) and the molten gold.

This fight like all I guess, is you just have to get the hang of each phase and it takes work to get to those phases so you can see them. We need to move faster though. Nelly advised they are going to start working on Heroics on Wednesday know instead of normals so that will at least give better gear, but we have to go back and kill Jaina in Normal mode at some point.

Speaking of, I went and did LFR and completed Jaina. I had the quest to complete her and I figured I was sick at home why not. It wasn’t too bad. We wiped on her once but then smashed it the second time. I didn’t find it that hard to deal with in LFR so I wonder how different it is in normal/heroic. There is a lot going on – no argument here – but I think if the tanks can get their positioning right and the DPS watch their debuffs and get out of the bad (and into the good when they need it) we should be able to smash it. I don’t feel as scared doing her now though.

Once you complete this you get more story and Sylvanas becomes even more twisted. Stop reading this here if you don’t want to know anymore or you haven’t finished this part of the quest.

You are tasked with attending the funeral of King Rastakan and the city now has mourners travelling to the top of the Great Seal.

After offering her “condolences” she decides to raise the corpse on the boat, Daelin Proudmore; to be an undead to use against the alliance in return for their killing of King Rastakan.

Daelin’s memorial stone.

Baine is very unhappy about this – very unhappy – but Sylvanas basically tells him to shut it – she controls death and will do was she pleases. This sounds like the banshee who is still as crazy as she was when she burnt down the World Tree. I don’t like it one bit, it shows an arrogance and rage that a Warchief shouldn’t have had.

Master of Death

I am wondering when this will blow up into the next main story section of getting Sylvanas out of office? However the story basically stops at that point with plans needing to be worked out. The entire thing is very cool, so if nothing else make sure you get Jaina killed so you can hand in the quest and see the reaction Baine has. He must be so close to the end of his tether with her, especially when she says she will not let her allies (the Zandalari) suffer alone. She is one twisted banshee.

Raiding…catch up :)

I got slack with the posts again but I swear it isn’t my fault…aside from this being my blog and therefore fully responsible for posting etc!! Shhh no one needs to know ok :p

So the wonderful guild has managed to kill Blockade!!! I wasn’t there for the kill but I managed to get hold of a picture from a guildie. Look how happy they all look!

Blockade 8/9 N

They apparently went and had a play with Jaina and it terrified them 🙂 That doesn’t bode well imho!! There has been talk the first three bosses in heroic are easier than Jaina. I will cross that bridge when I come to it though, I am unlikely to see Jaina on normal any time soon due to my availability. However having said that I was unwell last week and managed to get in on a Wednesday raid to see the earlier bosses I hadn’t yet killed.

I was pretty excited at killing Grong on normal (having only seen him on heroic) and scoring this little beauty of an achievement. Yup I am defending the homelands from angry white gorillas (sounds like Aussie politics at the moment)!

He is a much easier fight on normal than heroic, stupidly so. I wonder how easy LFR is. We continued through the bosses with ease, however we got to Rastakhan and I swear on everything I hold holy, I did nothing good on that fight. Nothing. I was in the group that had to go down the bottom and I literally spent the next 5 minutes just running around to avoid the bubbles and jumping into the portal to remove the debuff. I did not get any more than about 10 casts off the entire time…including my instant casts.

That fight made me sweat. I didn’t like it at all. I am now terrified of Jaina. I had thought I took a photo of the amount of balls downstairs but I haven’t. Nibblepie did later say to me the last time they did this there was nowhere near as many balls to worry about. I would have liked to have been in that run instead 🙂

But we did get through it, even with people (I think it was Nelly) wondering why the bottom phase was taking so long. Sorry – that was entirely my fault for not doing any DPS. Another achievement received, I am sure I will be ok on this fight next time now that I have seen it all the way through.

Onto a heroic catch up! We are now 2 down!! We smashed through lights champion and then went to Grong. Last time he smashed us in the face repeatedly at below 20%. This time, he got smashed in the face 🙂

Grong 2/9 H

We then spent the rest of the evening (by accident) wiping on the Jadefire Masters. I kid you not we almost had them….every single time. It was so close. They weren’t clean attempts or pretty but we were so close we just kept thinking we would get them.

For those who have been lucky enough to never get sent upstairs – this is what you are looking at:

Now in every single video I have watched on this boss they make it look like they turns happens really slowly and you have time. I call absolute BS on that. I think they sped them up or something in real because this is virtually impossible to survive and to see. This image above is so clear and saturated with colour, mine was a lighter/paler green and harder to see. It was at this point we mostly all died. However by the end of the night some people were surviving more often but honestly it was just horrific. Ben somehow managed to survive every single time…I suspect having an awesome graphics card and video settings at ultra might make things look different therefore easier? I will try and get a picture of what it looks like for me when we are in there next.

Either way, we are chugging along and learning the fights as well as can be expected. We will get through through because that is how we do it in Warsong!!

Mekkatragic

I was once again late to raid on Wednesday night, which happened to be the last one for me for a while due to Karate being back on. So when I finally did get into the game, I was told they had killed Rastakhan!!! I was very impressed – that was a hellish fight (and mostly sad I missed it).

I have no idea if they got me a screenshot but I am sure someone will send me something if they did…eventually.

I actually turned up whilst they were attempted Mekkatorque and it sounded like they were about to kill him. Not having read up about the next fight (I had researched the crap out of Rasta), I had no clue what Nelly was calling out – blue you’re orange, then blue, then red; Red you’re blue, then green, then..what the hell are you on about.

Blessedly they wiped 🙂 Muhahahahah.

I got an invite and jumped in, Nelly getting me to root things like a good druid straight off the bat. We then did the fight again – me having zero clue what was going on – just rooting little bots and hoping like heck I didn’t get shrunk because I was so confused about the colour calls.

Would you believe I got shrunk on the last one about 30 seconds before the boss died, so my ineptitude didn’t affect the raid!

It is definitely a different experience being in a run with the guild when we are doing a new boss. People aren’t joking around as much, they are more easily frustrated and everyone wants their idea to be the one that works.

Ultimately, we get it done and that is the important thing 🙂

Mekkatorque 7/9N

The rest of this evening was spent on Blockade. Can I just say…what in heck Blizz. OMG. This is horrific. Solidly, horribly, terribly icky. This fight made me long for Patchwerk. Seriously. I just want a nice easy fight were I can face-roll my way to success 🙂 LOL

I was on the ship with the sirens and it was pretty difficult to stay out of the poop, get the siren, stay behind the poop if you got targeted by said siren but also drop the poop in a useful spot. Yuergh. Horrid. Even the slightest delay or bad placement and you were sent off the ship to your death. End of story.

It took us a few attempts to get this bit due to sudden onset death of our boat, but once we got it handled we had about 5 attempts where we made it back to the pier.

It was at this point even I got frustrated. Maybe because I had just watched the strat video or maybe I was just annoyed at the sirens, no idea. Not because we were wiping but because people would not stack up on each other. Like seriously guys you need to be on top of each other to reduce the ground mess. Don’t stand next to each other – you just spread it out. OMG!! Unless you played all the way zoomed in with your camera – you don’t need to see your actual toon.

If you do play with your camera zoomed all the way in – I would suggest you are doing something grievously wrong. Wrong!

Of course it was making me even more annoyed people were blaming everything but themselves as to why we were failing and trying to come up with different solutions to a problem which didn’t even exist. (Omg that sentence structure is terrible but I am still annoyed!)

https://www.furaffinity.net/view/4209473/

Anyway we weren’t getting very far into this one, adds being dropped early, balls not being soaked, ground covered in muck. Hopefully next attempts will be better.

Continuing the fight

We need to discuss the fact we are turned into filthy alliance scum. We even get the spells the alliance have. I get turned into a Night elf and I do have to confess, I have missed having the NE flip. It is a little unsavoury being a completely different faction. I can not find anyone either because we all look similar to each other in outfits.

Turned alliance

Back to Opulence on Friday night and I got switched to the other side, is it was fire which was killing me and this time it was electricity. I actually did better this attempt and managed to stay alive through the tunnel rooms. We got into Opulence’s room and he died so quickly, I don’t think any of us were prepared for it. Everyone killed the adds after some serious CC commands, but it honestly just exploded into piles of gold coins unexpectedly. We were too perfectly focused – they are the least exciting kills.

Once the boss dies you dig for treasure….great amazing vendor trash treasure.
Opulence 4N

I should point out at this stage that Chris and Jason – our raid leaders have been….away…deserting us. So Nelly has stepped up to be the raid leader and she is smashing it out like the pro she is. She explains things calmly, succinctly and just gets us through everything. She is kicking us through this new raid and the bosses are falling beneath our feet.

We headed to the Conclave of the Chosen. I had zero idea about this one. The adds on the way to this one basically give you all the information you need for the actual fight though, so it wasn’t too horrid. We had quite a few attempts. Quite a few. This was a challenge due to all the randomness – healers needing to dispel but only at a specific point, raptors that target but you have no idea which one is actually after you, wing buffeting from a random location. It got a little hairy after a few goes, but we did manage to get there in the end! That is all that matters.

Conclave of the Chosen 5N

We spent the rest of the night having a look at Rastakhan. Some of us watched the videos during our break, came back and then got completely walloped but the mechanics. Sometimes you just need to see it a few times right? I thought we were doing really well until I happened to notice people getting the Heroic and Mythic achievements already! Seriously people…calm the hell down! Also Grats 🙂

Battle of Dazar’alor – You know it.

Last Wednesday night was the start of the new raid and also the day I picked up my new car. Yes. I have a new car – who cares about the raid right? I was late to the raid because everything was delayed at the car yard. I was so late in fact that the guild had managed to kill 2 bosses already by the time I got there! Sorry for the lateness of this post, we have had one of the busiest fortnights ever!

Nibblepie has uploaded videos to youtube so check out the playlist on the right hand side banner they should be there. Here is the guild’s first kill for the Champions of Light!!

Warsong 1/9N

And then they went in and killed Grong!

Warong 2/9N

By the time I turned up they were having their 10 minutes break and I was about to enter into the world of the Jadefire Masters! Which, would you believe we one shot? LOL Walked in, had an overview, worked out heals and tanks and then we simply smashed them in the face. This was the only point to which I had watched videos and read strategies!

Warsong 3/9N

Opulence was horrid. It was at this point I discovered I may no longer be cut out for raiding. I am out of practice and not able to focus on everything I need to.

I died repeatedly. Just so often, I couldn’t get through the first two rooms without dying. I was so ashamed of myself. The We had some good attempts towards the end of the night but we still had some bits to work out.

For our first night it was pretty exceptional 🙂 Well done guildies!!
