Warsong’s first Uldir

There is some current discussion about moving the raid nights around within the guild but until that is sorted the raid nights are still Wednesday/Friday.  On the 5th September (yes this is now a week after we started) we headed into the bowels of the Heart of Darkness to begin the slaughter of G’huun and his minions.

This is us gathered in the main room before we started. Don’t we all look like Champions of the Horde?

I had asked Pracey if he was planning on streaming the raids and he was pretty excited to do so, it makes me happy since I can’t.  I am yet to test out streaming with my 4G connection. I might try this weekend.  You can watch the entire 2 hour session if you like below, but Pracey has since broken it up into the boss fight sections to make it easier to digest.

Watch World of Warcraft – Uldir Raid from harrisben on www.twitch.tv

We did so well!!  So so so so so so so well.   In truth, I had only read the first 2 bosses as I had not really expected to get past the first one, not because we couldn’t but just because I figured in the excitement we would be all over the shop and suck.

Can I just say though, we one shot the first boss Taloc? We walked in, got a run down from our amazingly epic raid leader Jason, the tanks communicated with us and each other, the healers worked their cool downs and most of the DPS stayed alive.

Then BOOM. He dropped like a sack of potatoes.

We all were sort of dumb founded. Like…”oh…um…he ded boss!?!? What we do no mon?”.

I think the worst part of this boss was the section in between when we had to move around the outside and kill the little blobs. Picking the right speed at which to move was handled really well by the tanks. Otherwise it was not bad overall, being prepared for what was going to happen was definitely of benefit.  It was a nice entry level for this.

The second boss: M.O.T.H.E.R was a surprise. Apparently her name is an acronym of something, Brian found it on the night but I can’t locate it now. She is a cow.  An absolute cow.  The physical damage was pretty hefty for the tanks (extra healing at the end of the first barrier transition helped with our kill) and the barrier/adds were an issue for the first couple of people who jumped through due to mandatory interrupts. We had a couple of casts getting through.   Jason changed the groups a couple of times to get a small enough size through without causing too many adds at once and raid wide damage.  Even after seeing the fight I am still a little confused about the fight, but maybe after a couple more runs where I am not trying to watch my feet will make it better.

After 5 or 6 attempts, we got gutsy and just kept pushing through to the last room, I guess as practise. In the last room, she started losing health very quickly and the healing was super easy according to the team.  Lana our feral druid beared up and started tanking after we lost both, Jason made a noise on voice like he was about to call a wipe, Lana went down and I have no idea who started tanking at that point.  But after a couple of seconds she dropped target and again we were all like..”errrr…boss be ded mon…how did that happen?” Apparently she only needs to get to 10% hahah!  There were less than a handful of us at the end just trying to keep going. I am super glad we did though 🙂

On we marched. The Fetid Devourer next.  We pulled the boss accidentally clearing trash, we ran screaming like babies 🙂 I liked this fight except for when he sucks in his breath because it is so much wider than you think it is.

Overall much easier than MOTHER in my opinion and will not be hard to learn. It is very tank heavy again, Jason asked me to go bear briefly. I took one hit and died.

We had a brief look at the next boss after having cleared trash to the wrong one, just to see the fight, which doesn’t feel as bad as it is written. The green cloud of gas being the worst bit imho because it was super hard to see. I think we got him to about 50% on our one and only attempt for the night.

Overall first raid was good! We did 3 bosses in a couple of hours sight unseen for most of us bar watching videos. It was a fun night – I even blew of karate just to be there for the guild’s first raid.

It’s a Mythic!!

We did our very first mythic!!  Can you believe it! We are soo excited. 310 ilevel for me, Moryrt and Nibblepie were about 316-320, so we knew we weren’t too far off being able to handle them with our set group. Stab was 340 I think and Pracey was 332? But still not exactly stellar levels.

Figuring that mythic 0 isn’t a killer and isn’t really much worse than heroic we decided to head to the motherlode because it was a central location and easy to get to. Never underestimate laziness people, never 🙂

We had one particularly bad patch where we got mobs from behind a hut accidentally as well as mobs to the side. It was bedlam. We wiped technically once, but we died a lot more than that. We kept running back individually to keep the momentum going before deciding to just wait and go again as a group.

I took a picture of our group in the middle of the run because I wanted to remember our very first mythic. Unlike some people who have already completed the collective mythic achievement, some of us have waited to go together as a group. LOL yes, many cherry popping jokes were made because some of us are juveniles when together.

The last boss killed us, once. I am terrified of doing this on a harder keystone. This fight is horrid. So much stuff on the ground, and homing missiles and gattling guns and smashes ….it makes me nervous.  Hopefully a few more attempts and we will spank it with ease.

We finished that earlier than we thought we would, so we signed up for another heroic. The Waycrest Manor.  (We now only have 2 more to see).  I liked it. Pracey was enamoured with the pipe organ playing throughout and I admit it was nice.  The fights aren’t too bad on heroic. I have no idea about the fight with the flasks and the dead people, but I am sure I will make sense of it after another couple of goes.

I clicked a “Vile pod” which was sitting in a fountain in a courtyard and “Groundskeeper Lilltih” popped up and almost killed me. I started screaming for aid. Reminiscent of Gondor really, but my team came running and I survived.  I tried to not touch anything else. There doesn’t seem to be anything fancy about the pod just an extra elite spawn.

So mythic number 1 done. We got so much gear drop as well.  Pracey is the only plate wearer and the brilliance of 4 people being able to swap gear is indescribable.  We are now well into the 324 space for ilevel which means we might get close for raiding requirements set by the guild of 330, especially if we can fit in some mythics between now and then. 340 ilevel gear dropping on bosses is nothing to be baulking at and basically why we stopped running heroics – why chase 325 when we can chase 340? Amirite?

DPS wise I think the boomy is doing me ok, I would like to be higher but I need to stop comparing myself to Stab and Pracey who had 30 ilevels on me and still have about 20 after upgrades. It makes a big difference.  I even downloaded Hekili (mod for rotations) and my DPS isn’t that far off if I am not using the mod compared to when I am using it. This makes me happy.

I see many more mythics in our future. Many.

Expeditions of fun!

OMG! I hadn’t thought they would be as much fun. I think it depends on who you do them with though, I could see these being horrible with PUGS.

Our first one was Whispering Reef and Pracey was trying to explain everything to us whilst ensuring we didn’t fail. We did cream the alliance AI in that one.

The next one was The Rotting Mire and this was a very close call. The numbers don’t reflect it, but at one point the alliance were about 600 infront of us because we couldn’t find anything to kill/collect, until we happened upon three Surok camps with so many fat bags of Azerite we claimed the victory.

The next was the Verdant Wilds. Again we had loads of space and spent a fair amount of time killing the alliance which I think helped to  our victory. We did get better as we went along.

I did keep running off to mine and collect things whilst Moryty and Pracey killed mobs which was not entirely helpful (I would be that bad PUG). I was so easily distracted by the shinies!  We had a few really close matches which I thought we would definitely lose but we found stashes of azerite just at the right times.

The Whispering reef had our closest match but we still managed to come out on top!

According to conversations you should do the 7 per week you need to cap the azerite, however you don’t really need to do more. They are meant to be a side to the main quests/stories and give you something different to do.

We did do all 7 though and had a good laugh at the same time. I would like to see these scale with group size so you can have 3-6 people running around and the mobs just have more HP or require more effort.

I really enjoyed them and I doubt I would ever actually do a PVP version, the AI was enough for me, but I think I would be happy doing more than 7 a week if people needed a third wheel.

Tips:

  • Make sure you grab the shovel if you see one!
  • Eat all the things
  • Go for the rare mobs.

Legends of the Tidesages

Whilst running around discovering the places in Kul Tiras we decided to chase down the rest of the Tidesages because we stumbled across one in the wild.

Nice easy achievement Legends of the Tidesages when discovering the areas.

I have added them to the attached map for easy locating if you don’t have co-ordinates.  The purple diamonds are the locations, sorry they are so small, I was adding them in via Handynotes and forgot to enlarge them.

There are also way points on wowhead from Varenne:

/way Stormsong Valley 49.51 80.90 Legends of the Tidesages Part 1 (Near the waterfall)
/way Stormsong Valley 59.02 59.54 Legends of the Tidesages Part 2 (On top of the hill)
/way Stormsong Valley 31.95 72.91 Legends of the Tidesages Part 3 (Near the lake)
/way Stormsong Valley 33.81 33.23 Legends of the Tidesages Part 4 (On top of the island)
/way Stormsong Valley 56.02 38.53 Legends of the Tidesages Part 5 (Up the mountain right of Warfang Hold)
/way Stormsong Valley 44.18 36.60 Legends of the Tidesages Part 6 (Up the mountain left of Warfang Hold)
/way Stormsong Valley 62.08 30.22 Legends of the Tidesages Part 7
/way Stormsong Valley 75.07 31.13 Legends of the Tidesages Part 8 (Near the Shrine of the Storm entrance)

They have some beautiful scenery from the mountain tops. Really lovely shrines. These are my favourite ones, I could picnic up there all day I think.

Just stunning.

Pathfinder One, explorer!

We went to the alliance island of Kul Tiras to discover the areas over that side of the world for our Pathfinder achievement.   If you don’t know already go to wowhead and check out their little tool which helps you work out where you are up to.

The amount of up and down mountains this took and running through PVP sections!!  OMG!  Glad I only have to do it once really.  I have no idea where this was taken – I am sure someone will advise but this is my dream home.

Just look at the views.  Mountains, greenery, windmills, flowers. GAHHHHHHH!!  It is soooo pretty. I want to wake up every day, step outside and see that as my view. #heaven

We need to discuss the awesomeness that was Drustvar. Aside from the very witchy feel to it. There was a stag in the middle of the forest which was able to set your hearthstone to it. Athair.  I set my hearthstone to him immediately, of course!  It seemed like the only druid appropriate thing to do. (It took me a few days to realise how absolutely shockingly bad of an idea that was).

He wanders around and if he gets too far away from his doe partner he chases and catches up. Then circles to a field basically full of little fawns and does. It is magical.

I am actually surprised how far through we are. We really only need to work on our reputation now and that is just world quests.

I am sure there are others but I saw Syronax in my guild receive this achievement the other day.  I am soooooooo far behind.

Topic 38: How do you level in Battle for Azeroth?

Z and Cinder bring us another interesting topic this week which you can find here.

Do you go about things your own way, taking quests as they come? Do you focus on just the main storyline? Do you go as fast as you can to get to maximum level, story be damned? Or are you the type of person who needs to clear every single quest from the map? Horde first, or Alliance? And in particular, have you changed anything about the way you level in Battle for Azeroth? If so, why?

I love levelling. Part of what I love about the game is the quests. The stories, the jokes in the quest text.  It makes it enjoyable for me and I could, if I am being truly honest, just spend the rest of my days doing levelling quests.  I don’t like questing with no reward – just doing it for money or rep. That is boring as heck.  I do wonder if a never ending levelling experience would really be that great.  Do I enjoy it because it does end?

Since BC, Moryrt and I have levelled together.  We take leave, we spend every minute online levelling and doing things together. It makes killing easier and ensures faster completion (in most cases) of farming quests.  I like to read everything the first time round so I can ignore them on the next toon and just whizz through.  I am a fast reader though and it can seem like i am not reading the text at the time.  Thank god the map has little blue circles for where you need to be or I might kill some of the people I have levelled with over the years who just get the quest and immediately ask what they need to do!  LOL

Since flying became tied to the loremaster and exploration achievements we don’t leave a zone until we have those complete and we ignore any other side quests until  we see that golden achievement flare.  At max level we come back for the extra cash and do side quests etc. It is simple but effective and ensures we are getting through the Pathfinder things.

I always levelled my mage first, this has been the very first xpac I haven’t. I levelled my druid first and I feel amazingly guilty about it.  I have started my mage but time factors will mean she takes a while to get done I think.  I had hoped to spend my weeks leave doing that but other things have kept me out of the game more than in.  You could say I am super annoyed about that in general.

Voila max level ding, we dance then start the long slog to heroics, gearing, raiding, world quests and whatever else Blizzard has changed about the game 🙂

Heroics, finally :)

Our heroic runs have been basically smooth as butter. Until our first attempt on Merektha.

Image result for Merektha

She spanked us in ways, we ought not to be spanked and we died. Horrifically. There was just…stuff going on everywhere and we made too many mistakes.  We went back in and killed her the next attempt but it was touch and go as well.

I think the moist difficult thing in the dungeon is the electric balls of pain. Do not attempt this when drunk. I can vouch for it being very hard to watch the patterns and react fast enough. Someone else in our group can also vouch for the pain. I hate to see these in mythics. I really just don’t want to.

Of course Moryrt just flaps himself over. Cheater.

We did a few others and they all went super smooth. A few niggles and me pulling extra moonfired mobs, but I swear it was some other druid we are in the group with.

Underrot wiped us a couple of times due to those stupid snakes, we tried…attempted…to stealth past. Stealth by a rogue type person. It failed.  We had multiple snakes and it was nasty.   We didn’t do that again LOL.

The motherlode was nowhere near as bad as I had thought it would be. The last boss was horrific. I still just don’t get that fight, so much movement and too many things to watch out for.  I can’t wait to see that one in mythic and tear my hair out in tears.

I learnt during our heroic runs that my battle rez is no longer instant cast. I have to actually cast it?  Like what the heck? I need to plan what I am going to do and when I can rez people.  It is insanity. INSANITY I tell you!  Then I tried to dispel a curse and found that has an 8 second clown.  WHAT?!  I tried to help our healer and failed.

The heroics are fun, I can’t wait to see the other dungeons from the alliance side. Especially whatever id in Drustvar, the witchy part of my soul loves that place.

It is enjoyable doing new dungeons!! ilevel is now 310…nowhere near what i need for raiding or mythics but we were all swapping gear with each other and it is making it easier to gear up.

120!! Ding!

We finally hit 120 whilst questing through Nazmir. We only 1 more of the quest chains to complete for the achievement so I think we did well to get there!

WOO! Always feels good to get that last level. However I was a little disappointed I didn’t get anything. No new spell, or talent or anything. Just the achievement. Am i missing something? I asked Moryrt and a few others and they all said there was nothing I am missing.

OK then on with it we go!  I levelled a few quests before Moryrt, no idea how i got so far ahead of him, but it wasn’t log before he dinged either. So Druid and Demonhunters are levelled. Next onto Mage for me and DK for him…maybe 🙂

I tried to take a photo of us at 120 with the Princess to celebrate our 120 status (I have never met such royalty before so I was fangirling a little) and Moryrt started dancing. Have to love the BE dance, but it does make photos hard.

Now we can get into the fun stuff off expeditions, gearing, heroics, mythics etc etc.  I can’t wait to figure it all out now.

Grats to us and to everyone else who is there already on second/third toons.

Quests…so many quests

It is just endless and all over the place. I sort of like it. Sort of.  There is this constant underlying anxiety to playing at the moment as you have no idea if you have actually finished with the line or if they are going to spring some more on you.   Fred posted on our guild page the Dark Legacy Comic a few days ago and my god is it accurate!!

I was laughing to stop from crying at the accuracy!  I am not sure I enjoy just having three never ending continents, I think I prefer lots of smaller areas as it makes you feel like you are achieving zone completion.  I am not sure as there is something to be said for only having to remember 3 zones for the xpac. LOL

But some of the quests have just been fun. So much fun! I have a gallery of some of my favourites. Including the ones in Vol’dun which I missed on my druid but found on my mage (I might go back and do them).

I particularly enjoyed being turned into a giant toad and licking my enemies to death. I also don’t think there can be enough Bawonsamdi in this game. I want to die more often just to hear his smart arse comments.  I had no idea about them until I died 4 times on my mage and noticed one of his snarky sayings was “That blink didn’t help you at all, did it?” LOL  Awesome. Just awesome.  Moryrt enjoyed turning into a blood troll and looking like a heroin addled drug addict 🙂

And be sure to Eat Your Greens whilst you are questing in and around Nazmir, it is to ensure you have strong constitution to deal with all the killing, maiming and hunting.

Levelling is so much fun. I almost wish it never ended.

More dungeons!!

We finally did the other 2 dungeons with our group.

We started with the MOTHERLOAD!!! because someone was a deserter and we needed to physically enter an instance. I can’t remember who the deserter was, it seems to irrelevant now :p I happened to be standing next to the summoning stone and Moryrt was nearby so decided that was the fastest one to get to.

I was looking into the bosses to write this post and found this is actually in Kezan, the Goblin starting zone. We had a discussion when we got out of the instance, about whether it was or not and we decided it wasn’t. We were wrong.

There was so much trash in the instance! Soooo many bombs. It was horrific.

The only boss that seemed like it is going to be horrible in mythics is the lady with the glowing orange flames of death on the ground Rixxa Fluxflame, maybe the end boss as well Mogul Razdunk.  Otherwise I think they should be manageble.  I quite like  Coin-Operated Crowd Pummeler he is fun running around kicking bombs back in his face.

We won’t discuss the issues I had after taking the indian jones style cart down the hill to then stand on a bomb 4 times in a row and die 3.  It just doesn’t need to be talked about….ever again.

Then we signed up for underrot as it was the only place we hadn’t been to. Those worms in the ground are a right pain. Really horrible.

But over all not a bad place. I honestly don’t remember most of the bosses in there…I do remember the last boss Unbound Abomination being a gorgeous hunk of flesh. Divine really.

I like the dungeons so far, they are pretty, the fights are mostly good at this level and I think are going to be terrifying at mythic level. I can’t wait to get to level 120 and start gearing up.

I am really enjoying the changes to Boomy as well 🙂 I really enjoy playing it. So happy I am sticking to my druid this xpac (for the moment).

How is everyone else finding the dungeons?

Topic 37: First Impressions: Battle For Azeroth in Pictures

I realised I forgot to add what this post was about – like a twit 🙂  Z and Cinder’s blog challenge for those wondering!!  Here is the link to their post request!

First impressions count and a new expansion brings a host of new zones to explore and new NPCs to meet.  Come and share your first impressions or favourite locations you find over the first fortnight of playing by showing us your favourite 5 (or more if you can’t choose) screenshots.

First impressions.  Gorgeous. Lovely. Emotive. Wild. Strong.

I haven’t been all that far, but my god, this place is gorgeous. I can’t wait to get flying so I can take pictures from overhead or at better angles. Azeroth just keeps getting more beautiful. Is it because she is now dying and her essence is being leaked out into the world?

Keeping this one short and sweet because the pictures speak for themselves imho.

Here are some other posts for the topic this week.

Dungeons!!

Stab and Pracey are so far ahead of us in levels due to their annual leave I suspect they will be well into gearing for heroics by the time this post is live, I left them at 119.

Nibble is at 113 (I am pretty sure), might be 114 actually,  and Moryrt and myself are at 112.  We had about 5 level 120’s in the guild when I logged on (which is pretty well done imho) and quite a few in the 117+ range.  I noted that the world first happened at about 1pm our time. Amazing! Or insane….I can never decide, you can see WoWhead’s post about it. It was a Method player so I am not surprised by that at all. Grats!

I digress. Moryrt and I were levelling when the call to run some dungeons was made. Given this is our mythic group, we decided to give them a try.  Moryrt even set up his iPad to read through the guides so that we weren’t just smashing through; we learnt too late in the last xpac about many of the boss/trash talents during high level mythics, so this time we want to be better prepared.

Balance, Retribution, Vengeance, Mistweaver and a Stabber make up our team and we did really well for it.  No wipes, not even any deaths. We didn’t need much healing and we were well behaved, no issues with threat for Moryrt either.

Our first random was Temple of Sethraliss, here is the group sitting down for some chow before beginning. I believe Nibble and Moryrt are having a moment of communion between tank and healer (it might be a new BfA thing).

All the bosses in here are pretty easy, I think the lightening boss Galvazzt will be the healer challenge in mythics and the last boss The Avatar of Sethraliss will be the DPS race.  Merektha and Adderis & Aspix I don’t feel were awful but they will just be messy.  We did this one twice via the random and we went through it much faster the second time and our boss kills were faster.  The pathing field of mobs with the eyes before the last boss will be an absolute slaughter house in mythic I imagine – I am not looking forward to that overall.

We then got Atal’Dazar which was amazing!!! I want to live in this place. I love the architecture.

Here we are before starting.  This had some fun fights which I think are going to be absolutely horrific in mythics..possibly even heroic.

We started with Vol’kaal and his poison thing on the ground and each other is going to be a testament to keeping a group together, I suspect standing on or near him then just moving backward is going to be the way to go. We can test that out over time.

Rezan is a giant dinosaur and such an interesting fight. There is no way I am going to cope in mythic. He fears, he chases, you have to avoid raptor bones and you can’t even stand in the middle (which is the obvious choice!) I loved it, even if I stepped on two lots of bones.

Priestess Alun’za and Yazma are a bit meh…they didn’t seem hard at this level, I imagine that will be more difficult with affixes etc.

All in all we had fun running the dungeons and we got to 112 by the end of the night.  Only 8 more levels to go. The dungeons are very lovely and the fights are fun so far of what we have seen.

First impressions :D

Before we discuss first impressions I have to tell you about the excitement I had leading up to BfA.  I had scheduled 2 weeks leave, but it was cancelled due to circumstances at my new job.  So I wanted to ensure I had maximum game time on Tuesday night and I had jokingly said to Moryrt (hubby) I wanted him to have the lights set to red (For the Horde!! of course) and the World of Warcraft Theme song playing as I entered the house.

I kid you not.

He pulled it off.

I was laughing my butt off when I walked inside.  I thought it was fantastic and I was clapping and dancing 🙂  It was brilliant. He is simply amazing to me. I am so grateful he does these small things which mean so much. <gushing>

We shovelled food really quickly as I didn’t want to be trying to eat while questing etc and then went upstairs to….our red room…

Yeah…we horded out 🙂

We jumped online and found that Nibblepie was just starting at the same time as us so we grouped up together and started the questline!  We got our hearts, added a first choice to it, then did the Stormwind Scenario. My wonderful Jaina tried to kill me, I will have words with her later.

Here are the three of us at the top of the mountain after meeting the King 🙂

We all found it quite hilarious that we could just walk into some foreign territory with some people really fighting against us being accepted and then not 2 minutes later they are showing us to their vault where they keep the wealth of the empire….not a smart move Princess Talanji.

Finding our profession trainers was a pain in the butt. Moryrt was trying to help me as a Demonhunter and says “follow me, I know the way” and proceeds to jump off the side of the building, flap his giant Demonhunter wings and laugh at my boomchicken wondering where he would land. He was just showing off!

We spent the time on discord with Pracey as well just grabbing quests and collecting and killing.  I fell in love.

Just look at those fluffy as heck faces!!  LOOK AT THEM!!!!! OMG I took so many pictures you would all be seriously ashamed of me.

Here is another one – omg look how cute they are. I want one. A mount one day? I really hope so. Blizzard please make these an easily obtainable mount. I just cannot stop looking at them without smiling.

Pracey eventually met up with us and was running around killing everything for us.  We ended the night because of maintenance (BOOOOO!!!), explain to me why you would release an xpac and then continue with the maintenance for the week.  Just cancel it people. Seriously. It could have waited a week.

We didn’t quite make it to 111, but we are not far off, I think maybe 10% or less to get the rest of the way.

I am enjoying it so far but I think it is too early to give any real idea on how I am feeling about it. Graphics are nice, the scenery is lovely as expected, the music is enjoyable. The usual standard.

Two standouts for me :the stealthing through Stormwind was really well executed; I was actually a little stressed due to the speed which was nice to have adrenalin pumping and the cinematic of the new land – it was simply gorgeous.

How is everyone else going?

Demon hunters are go!

Whilst waiting for release date, like many other people we had to find things to do, hubby and I decided to finish off the Demonhunters and get our class mount.

We noticed whilst running around that mine is all purple and hubby is all green.

We are like the ultimate Illidan pairing 🙂  I thought it was cute.  What perhaps wasn’t so cute (and has given my husband material for the next decade of jokes) was me wondering why I was dying and not doing more than 800 DPS in a full LFR raid.   To realise I had not done my talents.  Oops….LOL.

We had to complete the Breaching the Tomb achievement which took a few nights thanks to needing daily world quests and a class hall mission. The class mount questline for these guys felt super easy compared to some of the others I have done like the pally or even the mage one.  However you do the scenario, chase around the …bat…monkey…shrieker and tame it to your will then voila. Mount. Slayer’s Felbroken Shrieker  I felt like it was way too easy.

Once that was complete we decided to move even more toons to our guild, my warrior has now joined the Khaz family again and hubby’s DK, so we then decided to start chasing the class mounts on them as well.

Hubby has decided to Main his Demonhunter this xpac and as Tank, I will attempt my boomy again and have my bear as my offspec, but will likely also try and learn how to heal – although I am not sure I can handle the pressure. We recently started little lowbie toons to level as nightborne and I started another priest, hubby another mage. You start at Level 20 and the spec that was auto chosen for my priest was Disc, so I left it.  The other night we did a run through Scarlet Monastery and we wiped 4 times because I couldn’t heal. The pressure was too much for me. Lives were literally in my hands.  I failed miserably. So hard at lower levels without all the spells, but that is what makes it interesting to play right?

Although I just did a search and it appears as though I am supposed to have another spell…I don’t remember seeing it in my spellbook when I was setting up. I will check tonight though because that is going to annoy me now.

How exciting we are so close to xpac!!

(Yes I did backdate this post because I wanted to do one on release day!! You get double the posts today!)

Confessions

I feel a little like Usher…am I showing my age with that reference?

Playing through the war of thorns and seeing Sylvanas be, well, evil and without honour is making me feel slightly unhinged myself.

However we aren’t here to talk about my crazy levels, we are here so I can confess. So here we go, I am just going to jump in.

I secretly love the alliance and watching Anduin defend his people and pride (see what i did there? Because he is the lion? Get it!!!) makes me happy on the inside.  I adore his lion theme, I miss being part of the ‘good’ side, i miss having all all draenai toon base with their waggly tails, I miss being alliance sometimes.

I do love being horde (and I guess the underdog), I love that we usually have some honour system we stick to and I love being Tauren, but having Sylvanas do the things she is, makes me realise how bad we can be and I miss the alliance being good mostly. I also think they get prettier, nicer things. I dislike how hordies things are generally ugly, like we have no style….grrr.

I admit when I started learning about the world story of WoW way back in like 2007, I wanted to be Jaina. She was an amazing character and a kick arse mage – i wanted to be just like her. Now she is back and I am all a flutter with excitement, except on the wrong side of the war now.

There is something about being part of the collective, no matter which side, but I started this game as alliance and I think I have always had a little soft spot for what they do, how they handle us hordies and the battles they go through. I can’t wait to see how this plays out and I do hope, no matter how awesome I think Sylvanas is, i hope she gets her comeuppance,  because what she has done this past 2 weeks is an abomination.

LOK’TAR OGAR!

Topic 36: Farewell to Legion

Wow it has been a while for one of these. I was checking every couple of weeks so am super happy.  The end of xpac lull always makes it difficult to find things to write about so I am super happy I have at least 1 post for the moment, and fingers crossed other blogs to read it on.

Part 1 – What were your top 3 moments in Legion?

This could be anything! We want you to take a moment to look back and think about what it was that made Legion a great expansion for you? Did you achieve something in game for the first time during Legion? Was there a quest line or NPC or zone that you absolutely fell in love with? Or was there a piece of music or a mechanic that you fell in love with. Share your favourites in this topic 🙂

Part 2 – What are you most looking forward to about Battle for Azeroth?

For this one, it’s time to look forward. Whether you’re Horde or Alliance, there is much to look forward to in the new expansion. This topic isn’t necessarily focused on zones or NPCs that you’re looking forward to seeing (though that, of course, absolutely counts and of course feel free to write about these!) but maybe it’s something more than that. Are there some goals that you’re wanting to achieve now that a new expansion is on the horizon? Are there changes coming to your class that you are really excited about?

Part 1 – Top 3 moments in Legion

Definitely tanking. Just being the tank has been an amazing experience and one I do not want to give up.  If only my guild could change their raid days, it would make me super happy as I would be able to keep tanking.  I am actually really devastated I won’t be going into the next xpac raiding with them.  I hadn’t anticipated how much I would enjoy it.

I plan on tanking mythics still and my druid is likely to still be my main, so I will still get to see my purple bear 🙂

Ahead of the curve would be second. But that goes with the first 😀

Third would be getting the puzzle mounts – yes I know, I didn’t have to actually solve the puzzles entirely but I managed to get quite a few this xpac and I really enjoyed the running around with friends part of getting them.

Part 2 – What are you most looking forward to about Battle for Azeroth?

Levelling toons again. I really enjoy levelling and questing through content for the first 3-4 toons. I can just tune out, read what I need, farm the things . You can just be roaming around and dying because you forget you are not max level anymore and grabbing packs is not the smart way to get anything done 😀

I like seeing the new areas, appreciating the artwork. I take way too many screenshots at the start of the xpac because everything is so pretty and new and shiny!

I can’t ever seem to make it to the 5th toon. I wonder if that is because I don’t like the class as I generally level my fav 4 first.  Mage, Druid, Paladin, Warrior – then whatever I have next level highest.  I am stuck this xpac though as everything is still stuck at Drainor and I just can’t bring myself to get through it.  I might save up for my birthday and by myself some character boosts!  LOL

Mixed bag baby!!

I was devastated to learn last night, the mobile armory has been retired?!?! I was hut enough when the AH was stopped on the mobile app but I couldn’t really say I used it a lot. I would be lying if so.

The fact it would be really useful right now before a new xpac and whilst trying to make millions of dollars for a mount is irrelevant….really…it is just whinging for whinging sake.

But i used the armory a lot more, it kept me up to date on guild calendar – I logged in and signed up for raids on it, i jumped into guild chat if I was a passenger, I checked out my characters, planned for world events etc.

I attempted to log in last night to check when the War of Thorns was starting as I had remembered seeing it on the calendar, only to be greeted with this:

I was shocked! SHOCKED TO MY CORE! I am devastated and unable to feel connected to Warcraft. My addiction and withdrawal symptoms are peaking 🙂

They say they plan to move more into the companion app space, so we shall see what happens with that, but I miss having the connection to my guild and the ingame calendar. Hurry up and bring something back please Blizz.

Release date is getting closer and if you haven’t seen this handy little map, you should check it out now. Sydney is 8am AEST for worldwide release. I would suggest maybe hanging around until 10/11am before attempting it and see if the servers are still up at that point 🙂

I have organised leave from work for this (and a wedding in Sydney), originally it was going to be 2 weeks but then I changed jobs so honestly I am not sure anymore. I am currently in discussion with the bosses to find out if I can still take the leave as organised prior to my acceptance of the role.

Hubby might still be getting sent to India, we should find out more today, which would also put the plan for leave in jeopardy; I wouldn’t want to waste having 2 weeks off without him. But we shall see how all that pans out over the next couple of days.

Also did the War of Thorns Part 1. Sylvanas has a point about ensuring we don’t get attacked by the alliance with the new power of azurite. We can’t trust those alliance scumbags. :p  It is her job as the Warchief to ensure the horde is safe so I can understand her need to on the front foot when it comes to anything which could give them an upper hand.

I liked the wisp wall though, it was very pretty 😀  I am not really excited about the mount we get, I would much rather the alliance one:

It is much prettier than the Bat thing horde get, but also looks very badass.  Horde can like hippogrpyhs as well you know!!  So the play through was ok, I haven’t gone back for the world quests – I probably should for some gear on my lower toons.

Need to see what happens next!

I normally defend Blizzard but not this time

As with other people, I was part of the rush trying to get things completed before the patch dropped.  I was so angered by this particular issue it has taken me over a week to be able to write about it and not want to cancel my subscription.

As the title says, I normally defend Blizz because WoW is such an awesome game and something I have loved for 13 years. 13 years – holy cow!  I may not have liked everything they have done (like Drainor, removing the talent “trees”, adding questing for professions, no fishing rods required, taking away class buffs etc) but I have trusted in their knowledge of the game and how people are playing it.  I don’t have access to world wide stats as they would, they are working off millions of people’s data.  I trust they want the game to be awesome so they can keep making money off people, I trust they want to make the gameplay better each time to rope people in.

I understand there is grinding, and farming and spending hours killing bears because apparently none of them have 4 paws, a heart or a tongue. Yeah they could have lost those things in battle with other bears. I get it. I understand that not all bears, boars, humanoids, murlocs, naga are created equal and do not have any items you need after 20000 kills.

But.this.is.unconscionable.

I refer to First Aid and Field Medic.  I read a lot of comments about farming this before the end of Legion and how long it would take. A lot of comments about 10 -12 hours farming to complete and multiple areas to target.

These were just from some of the wowhead comments which as we know, is where everyone goes :p

I spent 8 hours farming over the last week before patch and I found 2 letters in that time – one at Gloaming Reef after the first 6 hours farming, then out of frustration I begged hubby to come help me farm in Suramar – at this point I knew I wouldn’t have time to get the achievement for field medic.  After 15 minutes of farming – he got a letter. I cannot explain the amount of cursing I started doing at that point. Hubby was unable to stop laughing at me – I was so angry.

I had to wait another 45 before getting my letter; the last 5 points I needed to actually hit max level for first aid.

The irony of the situation was me thinking I could even attempting getting Field medic; really I needed the letters to actually get my first aid to 800.  This achievement has annoyed me no end.  I went in knowing it would take me about 10 hour or more, but that would be on the assumption I would see maybe 1 letter per hour.  I was prepared for that sort of farm. But after 5 hours with nothing I was super pissed about not being able to get my profession maxxed out before it left forever.

These sort of drop rates is what makes people hate this game.  I can understand that.  I can’t defend it this time. There is not much I won’t defend but that is bullshit Blizzard.  Absolute Bullshit.  I didn’t realise First Aid would be getting taken out until only recently (trying to avoid BfA spoilers and news too much) so it didn’t really leave me with a lot of time with all the other things I wanted to get done before pre-patch.

I think I only ended up with 5 letters in total and three were just from questing in the world months ago.

I made it through this post, took me two days to write it though. Still angers me no end.  Drop rates need to increase for things like this, but then does it really make it an achievement if it is easier?
