#Blaugust2019 – Dragon Soul!!

I finally, finally!!!!! finished this achievement.

Glory of the Dragon Soul raider. It is one of those ones I just left and did occassionally because it required effort. Specifically, the spine. The spine is damn hard when you are solo and as I discovered even with duo.

Apophis and I did it a couple of weeks ago and it got me pretty excited to actually get the very last achievement done,

So when Ben mentioned he had a save at Spine but couldn’t get through it, I basically threw myself at his plated pally feet and begged to show him how to do it so I could steal his kill 🙂

It was worth it.

We died a couple of times initially getting sorted on the spine, but damn if i am not as happy as a pig in poop. If only I had flying….LOL instead of being a slacker, I could be flying this beauty around.

My next major goal is to finish the Firelands legendary on my mage so I can talk to the blue dragon flight. I should get started on that again.

A3: pets galore!

I finally managed to get online to create a horde toon, was surprised to find that Dragonray was available and also I could fly from the starting zone to Orgrimmar and I didn’t have to spend 100 hours running there. Woo!

I posted on the forums with my Btag and was invited in about 3.5 minutes. Super fast by Jedikitten. The only reason I remember the name is because I wanted to make a star wars joke but couldn’t think of anything witty.

I nearly fell off my seat when I looked in their guild tab. This is Tab 1 and Tab 6 below – just to give you an idea of the pet scope I am talking about.

Tab 1 – Just check it out?!?!
All the way to Tab 6. Every single tab is like this.

I was seriously agog with the amount in there. I then spent some time working out all my duplicates (thank god for addons with filters), thankfully, I noticed there is a list of animals they don’t want donated. Unfortunately I didn’t read all the way to the bottom first as I was going through alphabetically – but the last line was…No vendor pets…oops.

But I donated all these guys to the adoption program and I think there was only a couple of vendor ones in there.

I cannot tell you how much you should join these guys if you are chasing pets. My next step was to update the forums with the pets I wanted from the bank. In total there was about 8 I don’t have, so it take a few weeks for me to complete them all but it will be awesome when I have everything. I just need a way to get more pets so I can donate more. I need a pet making profession.

Let me know if you go past though because it would be cool to know i sent you 🙂 It would be well worth supporting these guys so they can continue to offer pets to people who are discovering the joys of collecting and battling 🙂

A3 Pet Adoption…do it for the critters!

No, I am not kidding. You know when you find something you think is simply too good to be true…this is possibly it.

I know I haven’t been as pet focused lately and I do feel guilt for that, but this might be enough to get me back into it. What an amazing thing!

If you love pets you need to finish reading this post then head over to their website to sign up and get onto it.

I was trawling twitter a couple of days ago and stumbled across a RT by
Evolyn from A3 talking about adopting pets. So I had to follow up on it. I had no idea this was even happening – how could I have missed this!! Thanks Evolyn for RTing! The short version is; you join the guild on Bladefist Hordeside and then you check through their banked collection and request pets when the adoption week starts!!

This is simply a brilliant idea. You can read about how to get started on their forums here.

Here is the thing. I have so many pets duplicated but I can’t bear to release them because I figure someone surely wants them. But the people I know like Nelly and Ben have a metric tonne of the pets and don’t need what I have. This is perfect for them. They can get pets they are missing or even donate pets so other people can look after them. My plan this weekend is to jump online, create my toon, sign up on the forums and start going through my tradeable pets to donate.

So I tweeted them to make sure it was ok for me to write a post about them and share the love and knowledge of this unbelievable rehoming service! We have swapped a few DM’s as well but I wanted to show you my original tweet so you could understand my excitement about this. I used half my tweet allowance on “!”

I am so excited I am getting up early on Saturday morning to get the process started. This is the sort of stuff that makes me love WoW. This sense of community which is fostered by something as adorable little critters.

Ok, so I couldn’t help myself I signed up on the forums already as Dragonray 🙂 Say Hi if you see me around!

Demon hunters are go!

Whilst waiting for release date, like many other people we had to find things to do, hubby and I decided to finish off the Demonhunters and get our class mount.

We noticed whilst running around that mine is all purple and hubby is all green.

We are like the ultimate Illidan pairing 🙂  I thought it was cute.  What perhaps wasn’t so cute (and has given my husband material for the next decade of jokes) was me wondering why I was dying and not doing more than 800 DPS in a full LFR raid.   To realise I had not done my talents.  Oops….LOL.

We had to complete the Breaching the Tomb achievement which took a few nights thanks to needing daily world quests and a class hall mission. The class mount questline for these guys felt super easy compared to some of the others I have done like the pally or even the mage one.  However you do the scenario, chase around the …bat…monkey…shrieker and tame it to your will then voila. Mount. Slayer’s Felbroken Shrieker  I felt like it was way too easy.

Once that was complete we decided to move even more toons to our guild, my warrior has now joined the Khaz family again and hubby’s DK, so we then decided to start chasing the class mounts on them as well.

Hubby has decided to Main his Demonhunter this xpac and as Tank, I will attempt my boomy again and have my bear as my offspec, but will likely also try and learn how to heal – although I am not sure I can handle the pressure. We recently started little lowbie toons to level as nightborne and I started another priest, hubby another mage. You start at Level 20 and the spec that was auto chosen for my priest was Disc, so I left it.  The other night we did a run through Scarlet Monastery and we wiped 4 times because I couldn’t heal. The pressure was too much for me. Lives were literally in my hands.  I failed miserably. So hard at lower levels without all the spells, but that is what makes it interesting to play right?

Although I just did a search and it appears as though I am supposed to have another spell…I don’t remember seeing it in my spellbook when I was setting up. I will check tonight though because that is going to annoy me now.

How exciting we are so close to xpac!!

(Yes I did backdate this post because I wanted to do one on release day!! You get double the posts today!)

Never forget!

There are some days when you wonder why you keep chasing things in game when you consider the hours you roam around and around and around and around and around……

I used every mod I could, I used way points and handy notes and omg…the hours.

Are you wondering what the heck I am talking about?

Do these stupid crystals look familiar? If not, get on it and get yourself a set of the most awesome Reins of the Long-Forgotten Hippogryph. You spend half of your remaining life flying around Aszuna looking for Ephemeral Crystal and once you click 5 of them you get the mount.

You may remember hubby got his mount quite a while ago and since then whenever I have been in Aszuna I have checked for the crystals. On 4 different occassions I have spent over 3 hours flying around looking for the 5th crystal. No success until now!

I went to bed the other night after finishing a first aid quest in Aszuna and was thinking that my luck would dictate a crystal would be visible. And it was. As it was midnight already, I went to bed parked next to the one I found in the hopes that when I woke up it would still be there. And it was!  Hubby came and helped me and I was adding the one I had found to my handy notes to make it easier.  I eventually found my 4th one and then Pracey came to give us a hand as well.  It was so good to catch up with him on discord and talk shit.   I then found my fifth crystal.  In total I was flying around for about 3.5 hours.

Tips to chasing this mount:

  • Only one person can get this mount when the crystals are up.
  • The crytals spawn every 8-12 hours
  • Once you click the crystal, it stays there, but cannot be clicked by you again.
  • You can see them from a very long distance.
  • They can be in water/caves and between bushes (so hard to see).

From the amount of times I have tried this, I strongly believe the crystals have an internal timer as well.  Some of the crystals spawn in locations after having been searched thoroughly – seemed like about 20-40 minutes between spawns.

My last crystal was in a location I checked multiple times over the 3.5 hours and like…out in the open – really obvious. It would have been impossible to miss.

Either way!!  I am so freaking happy to finally have this mount! Thanks Hubby and Pracey for keeping me company during the long hours and thanks for giving me the crystal mojo.

Thank Yogg I will never have to do that again.

A few weeks ago I asked my buddies if they wanted to get the Lucid Nightmare mount and for a multitude of reasons we never managed to actually get a time for us to be online as a group. (Explains why no mythics either hey?)  So…hubby and I sort of…did it anyway…without them.

I do feel pretty bad, but having done it now; we could help them get through it faster 🙂 if we can hook up a time.

From everything I had read it was going to be a rough ride and I can definitely agree with that sentiment.  I think all up it took us about 6 hours, split over 2 nights.  Not really all that bad but it is sometimes rage inducing without the proper knowledge.

There are many guides about it so I won’t go into all that much detail but some parts I will mention.  We essentially used the guide in the comments section here by Nightswifty.  Bless their heart whoever they are!

It starts in Curios & Moore uptairs; find the scroll, click the scroll, get the clue and then head to Ulduar.  How anyone figures out these things, I have no idea, but props to them because they are legendary. Simply legendary. Apparently this clue pointed to the release date of Ulduar…WTF?

Kill XT and clear his room and crack a leaver on the NW side of the room, click the lights in a pattern that apparently resembles a cog? (Sure…it does…if you squint real hard?)

Head to AQ40 and past C’Thun’s room near the quest givers there is a table and you have to play the JewelCraft game except this time it is all Old god images.  I want this version – like a glyph or something I can use to change mine.

You have to get 5 brains in a row,  I just kept playing until it happened. Hubby finished before me even though I had to explain how to even play it. <hurumpf>

You have to get a Shadoweave Mask from the AH or a tailor if they have the pattern, ours were $4000 each when we did this. Then head to Deepholm and search for a fissure in the ground which is nowhere near the circling worm deep in an underground cave, just head into the actual cave areas and search near the large rocks. We hunted around the worm for ages thinking it was near him. It wasn’t.

You fall through the ground, find a chair equip your mask, touch the skull and then find out you have to go to Gnomer. You play with some gears, fiddle with some knobs, then find out you have to go to Val’sharah.  In the house with the crazy bird Wraithtalon out the front. He attacked me when doing the puzzle as well, so I suggest you stand toward the back of the house.

You click on a brain and start a puzzle which is all dots and red lines.  You need to make all the lines blue.

Tips:

  • They are separate shapes and not one together so I ended up with 5 different  smaller shapes.
  • You need to click two of the dots to swap at a time. That is how you move the lines around.

Hubby also finished this one before me and had to tell me how to swap the lines around as I was just clicking randomly…and badly.

You then head to the hell hole that is the Endless Halls.  I cannot stress enough – under no circumstances should you do this part without getting the Lucid Nightmare Helper mod. If you prefer rage, anger, hatred and your conversion to the dark side to have begun at this point in your life – ignore the above.

It maps the direction you go and allows you to back track. You mark when you hit an orb or a rune and then just follow yourself back to the spots.  It can be time consuming but it is way easier than drawing maps, using excel or running randomly through hell – and we tried both methods and this was by far the easier one.

Tips:

  • Do not pick up any orbs until you have all the orbs and runes marked on your map. Once used they disappear and you have no point of reference.
  • Don’t bother wasting time marking which way the rooms are blocked in the mod – you don’t need it if you just back track.
  • The map changes every day and is different for each character. If you login and out on the same day, you have to start again but the map will be the same.
  • I have no idea if I should have linked or skipped the rooms when the mod asked me but in the end I managed to just back track anyway thanks to the numbering.
  • This took us about an hour to complete, possibly 1.5. I don’t know…I was so exhausted by the end.

Once complete you head to Karazhan, you are looking for the crypt next to the pet battle lady.

You had into the crypt and you need to find the lower part.  There is a hole that you need to jump down which lands into a pool of water. If you run out ahead of you there will be a underwater pool of death which is horrific called the Upside Down sinners.

The entire chamber is people hanging up side down. Freaky as hell. You have gone too far if you end up in there anyway but if you don’t mind being freaked the hell out go and have a swim with them.  There are some support beams to the right as you come out of the hole and that is the way to the prize!

Look at us with out treasure box!! So ecstatic to be staring at this box!

I cannot say if the mount was worth it or not, but I am very happy to have it 🙂 Good luck to everyone chasing this one – it is very pretty and has purple hoof prints and does a twirling prancy thing when you the space bar.

Pre-patch -17th July, Tuesday.

No doubt you are all aware of the pre-patch hitting our shores in a couple of days; here is the video if you haven’t yet seen it:

I thought I would re-visit my bucket list….LOL. I did nothing on it! However I found new things I would like to get completed instead – ensuring my First Aid was at 800 and seeing if I could get the Field Medic title before it all goes the way of the dodo. I also want to give the Mage Tower another couple of shots and see if I can’t get it done on my druid – in feral to get a shiny purple kitty to match my bear and my mage just to say I did. But honestly I tried it after the questline and failed horribly so….I am not sure I am that keen. Especially when someone in our guild (who shall remain nameless) has managed to complete it on almost every class….with crappy gear<hangs head in shame>.

The main thing I will be doing is chasing this little bugger Long-Forgotten Hippogryph. Until it kills me.  I am not going to give up but I am going to buy myself a metric tonne of snacks and energy drinks to get me through.

I am not overly excited about the pre-patch – it means I have run out of time to do all the things but what excites me is being so much closer to the expansion!!

Here is Wowhead’s guide on what to do before BfA. I might try and do the Chromie thing this weekend – at least give it a crack – providing I get my mount first.

I have seen lots of comments about how there is still a lot of work needing to be done in the beta for the game to be ok and I remember this being said about Legion as well, but I don’t recall any major issues with the release. Or I repressed all the awful stuff?  I can’t imagine it would be worse than the Drainer release on the hillside with 300000000 people standing on top of an eye glass to create the garrison.

What are you going to be doing in the last rush before pre-patch?

My Legion Bucketlist

A few weeks ago I saw posts going around about people’s bucketlists and I have watched multiple videos about the topic since the release date of BfA was announced.

So I thought I should actually gather my thoughts and post one so I can refer to and sucker my friends in to help me 😀  [*hint*] [*hint*]

Brawler’s GuildDONE!
Awake the Drakes – Got one less to go – still need 2 more!
Glory of the Dragon Soul Raider
– Chromatic Champion

Chromie Scenario/Reputation – attempted once – couldn’t figure it out.
Mage Tower challengeScrew that place to the pits of hell!
Collect pets on Argus
Make 5 million gold – Started – HA!
Mind WyrmDONE!
Pandaria/Legion achievements – started chasing
Forgotten hippogryph – got to 4 out of 5 stones at least 3 times now. Over 10 hours searching.
Finish my Firelands legendary.

There you go – that is my list.  I would like to get it all completed beforehand but I suspect I might be pushing it. Let’s see how we go, most of them are on my mage as she has the highest rep count and achievements.  What are you working on trying to get done?

Life and auctions

My posts are going to be a little erratic over the next couple of weeks, I will try and reduce how much so, but I have started a new job with longer hours and more travel.  This requires a period of adjustment which I just didn’t think about all that much until I realised how much extra time it would take.

I spend 12 hours away from home now instead of 9 and let me tell you, those 3 hours may not sound like much but it seriously cuts into your home and WoW time.

With that in mind I have been focused on starting to play the auction house…badly…at the moment I am just selling everything I can and trying to ensure I scan the AH daily for prices.  Let’s face it….the only real reason I am doing this is I am another person who has lost their freaking mind over:

It is a freaking dino….I want one – but $4 or $5 million is not an easy feat at all…and both Drew and I have to have one so that is only a meagre 10 million I have to make…hahahah

My starting gold across all of my toons was just on $130k. I have started doing class hall missions on my toons that involve gold – that is my focus. The bonus gold on those is almost 2k on some missions.   I do plan on starting to do as many WQ involving gold/consumables as possible as well, across as many toons as I can handle but I am not sure I have the time to be honest. (Which is why I only have 130K and not more! Time poor sucks).

I have been making gold on the AH though and now that I have to make what I want to sell I won’t be seeing a mailbox full anymore…I have run out of mats 😀 But my banker toon started at $3000 and I am now at almost $35,000.  Likely this weekend I will start buying things to disenchant for mat value or buy out and resell.  We shall see though.

How are you guys making money to get the mount everyone is talking about?

Brawling

On the back of our very first guest post by Pracey, I thought I would write about my brawling experience the other night.  I had started the brawl guild a few weeks ago and managed to get stuck on rank 2 or something.  My intention was to get it done before xpac hits and thanks to a video we were watching,  Drew and I remembered to jump back in, so that is what we did the other night.

Can you even see my tiny little blood elf next to his huge chest? I snuck this picture whilst he was waiting to go in.  We actually did really well.  I got stuck on a couple of bosses, the worst one being the fire guy. Drew also got stuck on this one for a few attempts.  Stupidly RNG with the ball spawns but you just need to get the right combination and voila death to the infidel!

I cannot suggest enough,  if you attempt to do the Brawler’s Guilde check out Wowhead’s guide on it.  It is brilliant and I have used it every season. You can find it here. It lists everything neatly and easily with the relevant information easy to find.  I use it between fights to know what is coming up next.  Yup, you can flick between it and the game that quickly. Definitely use it.

I was chatting to Ben and telling him it was a great way to improve on your character as you have to be able to move, do burst damage and be aware within 2 minutes and was a bit of fun. He joined us later and was smashing the first few bosses before 30 seconds had even passed. This is him in action.  I do love the spectator option. I would love something like that for raiding 😀

The three of us were just cheering each other on and having a laugh.  I managed to get to the last boss, which I found difficult as I have only done Hellfire Citadel once (I think) and barely remember the content. All the attacks are based on bosses from that raid. I got it down after a few attempts learning what things needed to be focused on at each point – I think maybe 3 in total?  It really helps that we out gear the brawls quite significantly now.

I am King of the guild now!  Why not Queen? I have no idea…but I will take it!  We came back in the next night to complete the rest of Drew’s bosses and whilst he was doing that I was doing random fights for the achievement (and shirts).  I have so many damn shirts now! I have a few extra from that picture as I did even more than the anticipated 10 for the achievement.  I can’t wait for the next Trial of Style to rock around!

I know I am missing the entire joke behind this achievement I am Thralls complete lack of surprise and even wowhead has no insight…I am confused.

I went and grabbed my mount and pet, plus the heirloom.  I actually quite like the basilisk movement, but will need to actually ride it more and see if I could handle it long term.

It sort of has this S-motion with it’s body and tail when it walks.  Maybe it will be motion sickness inducing actually…lol.  Honestly for not much effort you could get another mount and pet if you are a collector.  It took us basically a couple of hours on 2 nights to get to the last boss and I would say there are 3-4 that might take you more than 2-3 of attempts at most.

I still need one more achievement which requires 2 more rumbles, so will try and get them over this coming weekend but it is highly dependant on other people who are in the queue and if they pay attention to what needs to occur.  (The “Rumbles” are an event which every person in the queue – at the time of purchasing the token – get entered into and you have to collectively do different things). Likely would be easier with a group of friends on discord so you can warn/coordinate.

Drakes…Drakes…and more elusive drakes.

You probably won’t believe this, but I am still chasing dragons for the Awake the Drake achievement.  Given my love of all things dragon, it pains me, it hurts. Deep inside.

I have been “regularly” chasing down 2 of them – Onyxia and Malygos. I have wanted Onyxia as a mount since the first time I saw her. So long ago now. I wouldn’t even be able to tell you when, sometime in 2005. I remember the first time I walked into her dungeon and came down the ramp and saw her. I was so enamoured of her size.  Once again the raids in Vanilla felt epic – they had scale. Size. Dominance. Maybe it was because I was a noob and everything was exciting to me, including having to farm her to make the Onyxia scale cloak for BWL. (Which I still have in my bank).

So I headed to Malygos and saw an item be added to my appearance list (or so i thought). [sarcastic woo] which when I actually read it turned out to be a goddamn dragon!

I just scored the Reins of thee Azure Drake! I may or may not have started dancing excitedly.  I was cursing out how long it had taken, so I decided to check  and then felt decidedly ashamed.

Yeah…only 10 times according to my stats.  Not entirely sure these are accurate as I am certain I have killed it more times than that….but…um….yeah….I can only go off the information and I think that is a pretty good drop chance based on my experience. Maybe I don’t kill it as regularly as I imagine…

Onyxia is proving to be slightly more difficult.

So my current tally with the drakes is almost there.  I am terrified of doing Dragonsoul because I can’t solo the spine encounter but i don’t want to go with anyone else because then I will not win it if it drops (Statistically speaking whenever I am in a group and a mount has a chance to drop 90% of the time it will with 99% of those times it being won by other people – the only time it has not occurred is when I won the Swift Zulian Panther).

If people are keen to do Dragonsoul with me I am more than happy to do it. I will literally cry if it drops though and I don’t win it…LOL. But here is the gorgeous Azure. What is your next big mount chase?

Thank you Horridon

Finally, after getting my butt into gear, I got my 70 reputation achievement.

This makes me super proud.  I know it isn’t all that exciting for some, but that is a lot of work and a lot of hours spent grinding and farming. Maybe that is actually depressing?  LOL

Panser from Trade chat spoke to a dev recently who said they are finally going to update these sort of achievements and put the next levels of collection in.  This just means I will have to go back to Drainer and finish those reputations at some point.

I am not looking forward to that at all. I hated that place so much you can even tell by my lack of reputation.  Sadly without WoWjuju reputation calculator live anymore (anyone know a replacement?) I can’t be bothered to work out how many actual hours this will take me to complete, but that alone is 8 more reps I could count.

Legion is my focus for the moment though as I already have some at exalted and am not far off for some others.

That is another 6 I could complete with current content and just by doing dailies and emissaries it really wouldn’t take long.  I hadn’t realised I was with Revered with most of them already.  That really won’t take a lot of effort.

I am complete for Pandaria (do the individuals count to the total I wonder or just “The Tillers?”), I am complete for Wrath, Cataclysm and BC.  Classic WoW I have a fair few done, however I need to fix my rep with the goblins.  I was at one stage attempting to get the insane title, but gave up after getting the Bloodsail. By which point my rep was destroyed and repairing it probably really wouldn’t take that much effort, I just need to actually do it. That would also give me another 4 reps

I miss the days where rep grinding was aided with dungeon running/tabards. I think that is still a pretty solid way to keep content being used and allow you to get reputation whilst doing other things with friends instead of having to pick and choose dungeons over world questing time.  Especially now with Mythics you could make the reputation gains just slightly better capping at like mythic 5 or something.

Is chasing reputation even worth it?  Do you care about reputations?

Running old school

I had a free night and decided to just have some fun for me. I was PMSing and completely over everyone and everything so just wanted to mess around.

I decided to start completing the old raids that show as incomplete in my armory. I had thought I had completed more, but I guess over time I forget which toons I have taken where. No idea how people keep up with multiple alts to be honest.

I started with Sunwell. We had just started this when it was current but never even got the first boss down before it was time to move on.  So whilst I had done some of the bosses since in random PUG’s I had never actually gone to the end.

I can say I have killed Kil’Jaeden.  Right proper now.  An achievement and all! I didn’t have issue with any boss or mechanic so I felt like I was 40 levels higher :p

I headed to Heroic Trial of the Grand Crusader as I apparently needed the 2 bosses in the middle. I have done this raid so many times (I thought heroic) that I was so surprised this was on my list.  I did score some new achievements but it really only took about 15 to get through it all and most of that was me forgetting to talk to the guy to start the next even.  OMG Blizzard…soooooo annoying.

So those to bring me up to date with all the old content and I now have to work on Mists of Pandaria (where I took my first big break) and catch up on basically all the raids. I have all the LFR’s done so I clearly did some of the content. Most of the rest is muddled with half raids and no normals.

So I started with Mogu’shan Vaults which I needed in normal mode. I swear I have done this raid so many times on my mage, but I can only assume it was in heroic? No idea – I might have to check my stats when I am in game next time.  No pictures because I have done it so many time.

Then I headed to Terrace of Endless Spring.

I remember doing the first 3 in the past and I honest to god know I have done the Sha, but I do not – for the life of me – remember doing that room at all.

I forgot about Tsulong and after the first boss ran up the stairs… I did remember when I saw Lei Shi inactive that there was a second boss I needed to kill.  I even remembered to stand in the yellow spot.  Lei Shi was “difficult” it just took so long to do enough damage to her.  The Sha killed me 3 times and on my “I am giving up after this if I die again” attempt, I managed to kill it.  I was struggling with the spawns that attack when there was multiple – as I just couldn’t get them both for whatever reason. Eventually I smashed it in the face.  This one took me the longest I think.

Then I headed to Heart of Fear.   This is how I spent most of my time in there.

I know I have been here, I vaguely remember it. I have done it on LFR. Clearly I know bits of it. I was so confused and lost and just trying to kill things with high damage and not worry about mechanics. That basically worked and I only died on the last boss once because I got feared was being attacked from behind and on Amber Shaper because I didn’t kill the add when it spawned and it did some weird thing to me which I died on.  I made sure he paid for it next time.

I am hoping to get a few more knocked over before reset. I am still chasing gear off them which is why I don’t want to just go in and complete them all in a lock out. I would rather loot them in the different difficulties.

I was actually quite surprised how hard it was to kill some of the bosses in all the raids. I thought I would just walk in and smash them fast, but it actually took a long time, like my damage was just not as high. It was weird and disconcerting.  I did walk away with a metric tonne of tier gear and other randoms added to my appearance tab which was fantastic, I just have to hunt down the rest of the set pieces.  I might start with MC soon and work my way up as I still have pieces I need in there, maybe I can tag along with Ben if he is still doing them.

So based on my armory profile I am now sitting ok with Pandaria. Just need to get a Throne of Thunder done, likely normal since I am half way and clearing out the last of Heroic Siege of Org shouldn’t take too long.

I am really going to struggle with completing anything in Drainer.  Screw that place.  I also have to figure out how to get into the LFR for Hellfire.  I read somewhere you speak to someone and he solo queues you.  I just have to find out who and where.  I know it says I have done them but I can tell you, I mostly remember Highmaul, but I quit after that raid so the other times were literally probably being dragged through by people.

That is going to be fun to get complete.

Which brings us to legion. Where I have done nothing on my mage and it is mostly on my Druid. But it feels weird not having my mage complete it so I will work on completing the LFR’s whilst they are still available and ewasy to get into and I might try and PUG the other stuff or just wait until we are 3 xpacs ahead and I am 109 still playing :p

The Riddle and the worm

Drew and I were watching the following video about obtaining the Lucid Nightmare mount by Bellular Gaming.

It reminded me of the Riddler’s Mind-Worm which I have been wanting to get for a while. I had never bothered as I figured it would take me a heck of a lot longer than I was willing, however tonight inspired me so I messaged the group (Drew, Michael & Ben) and asked if they felt up to the effort. Guaranteed mount for a little bit of flying around sounded like a plan.

I would love to attempt the other mount, but it looks way more involved…especially the maze room…not sure I would make it through that at all.

We jumped online and started the mission. I went on my mage as I figure having ports was going to be the most useful way of travel should we need to bounce around. Honestly if you are going to attempt this – get a mage who can port you back and forth – it makes it so much easier. No idea how long this would have taken with dependency on hearthstones.

You only need to read 8 pages then head to Westfall for the final part where you loot a chest and voila!

The chest on the west coast of Westfall and we found it towards the north end of the coast line.  Simply click and BAM! Mount.

Only one of the ugliest damn mounts that ever there was!!  LOL but I wanted it for that reason.

And getting a group photo was even harder due to the movement of the mount.  I really like the little chest on the back, but it would have been cool if it was a usable bank or something.

ahhahah SOOOOOOO ugly!!  I love it.  There is simply no good angle to get a photo of these guys. All in all I think it took us about an hour – maybe slightly longer, but not much more. I would suggest if you were putting it off, just get it done.  It won’t take you long at all.

And the “poem” from all the pages reads as follows:

...of Sea, Spirit and self…
…first of lords to fall…
…the wind, the eye…
…the plume, the tomb, a scarab moon…
…in snow, sand, and stone…
…behold the battle, unblinking…
…bejeweled watcher…
…ray of sunrise….

Now to contemplate the nightmare more seriously.

Blizzard why did you betray me this way? After everything I have given you.

I cannot preface this post enough to explain how everything that follows stems from a deep sadness at being misled by Blizzard at a time that should have been amazing.

I do not see the silver lining on this.

We were going to run some mythics for the weekly quest however Michael was eating dinner; instead of harassing him to masticate faster we took the opportunity to jump into Nighthold and get the last of the shards I needed for Balance of Power.

I only needed 4, so we wrangled an elite squad of death and destruction which included Simon, Brian, Fred, Ben, Drew, Michael and myself.  The guys were fantastic for coming along and helping me get the last few shards. I cannot thank them enough. Michael didn’t arrive until later, so in the interim I switched to healing. Bad idea. I couldn’t find the spell which put the green circle on the ground, I had to manually select people then the spell, and I was basically just clicking things in the hopes they would light up.

I am not a very good healer.  I didn’t even have Brez on my bars…had to do that on the fly when Drew needed a rez before tanking the second add. It was a disaster! Then Michael came online and I was so freaking excited!

After handing in then killing Guldan for his eyeballs, I went off excitedly to hand in my quest but the chain continued. So I delayed that to help Fred in Emerald Nightmare with the rest of the group to obtain the last of his corrupted essence. We tried Ursoc again for the hidden artifact – which Simon got!!!  We tried for Michael’s hidden one off the dragons and Ben needed something off the eyeball.

Once that was complete I headed back to my quest chain, flew to Moonhold and received all the power!! I was so excited because this meant I was going to get my purple bear!

We start off with this horrid green bear :p after receiving all the power.

I have improved history by doing the longest quest chain in game.  It probably isn’t but my god, it certainly feels like it is.

I ported directly back to my class hall and my tree to switch to purple. This is what greeted me.

It was locked? LOCKED?!?!?!?   I have – as per the notes on the tool tip – “Completed a Mythic mode Dungeon using a level 15 keystone” AND I had just completed “Balance of power”.  What gives Blizzard – as your tool tip reads – I have done the requirements?

Craig suggested the other day I needed to do the 15 after having finished the quest line.  Is that how you read the above?  Would you not put the 15 after the quest line completion then to give it a sense of order,. would you perhaps put them in the same sentence and advise it is required to be after.

I was soo annoyed. So annoyed in fact that I almost rage quit. I had been looking forward to completing this and being purple.  Instead I was convinced to to a level 15 then and there. So myself, Simon, Craig, Ben and Michael jumped into a Seat of the Triumverate 15 (which was Craig’s).  It was horrific.  I lost count of the deaths after about 50. I was so annoyed with the bosses and my failings as a tank – which were more to do with it being Skittish affix this week than anything else, but it was still frustrating as hell.  I hate all the bosses in this instance due to past experiences so it was lovely to finally kill this piece of garbage.  I hate him with a passion add that to my already simmering rage about my butt being green and not purple – I wanted to see him die.

We eventually got all the way to the last boss and Michael and I had to tank him/her/them (?) from 40% all the way to 0%.

It was the longest boss fight I have ever done, but no way in hell was I going to have to start again!  I have to admit it was pretty funny.  Michael even posted it on youtube to watch if you want to have a laugh.  I would speed it up if you can though as it is just long :p

Thanks so much to the guys for being dragged through a horrific level 15!  You were – as always – awesome!

So I headed back to my tree to get me some purple butt! This greeted me again!  ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME!!!???!

The conclusion can only be made that it has to be a timed 15. Where is heck does it say timed?  For more casual players like me – completing a 15 is hard enough without adding it needing to be timed. When I say hard enough – the two level 15’s I have done have taken over an hour and a half with over 40 deaths – I am so far away from the timer that getting to the end is a massive success in of itself.  It isn’t like I am finding this easy you know. Had I known it was a timed 15 I would have just never started on this mission to have it purple. I probably wouldn’t have even completed the Balance of Power.   The tooltip should reflect the actual requirements.  I still “completed” a 15 when we missed timers and I got the achievement – that says it is complete. Why am I not purple!!! Why would you do this to people.

I am so angry. I am writing this post a few days later (to calm down) and it has made me angry again. I don’t even want to contemplate having to try and do a timed 15. I can’t even get a 15 key to do it?  Our mythic group is still at level 13’s with sometimes upgrading a key by one.  We haven’t managed to do a 14 yet in timed mode. I have until August I guess if I can be bothered. I am just so depressed about the entire thing.   Hashtag devastated.

and the balance of power continues

Forever…..and ever….it feels like the longest, longest quest line to want to complete. Seriously killing my patience, but with the release of BfA dates now I have to get it done. It is like a need in me.

I have been doing a quest or to per day depending on what is required which I don’t think is soo bad.

I collected a piece and then they tried to combine it and then nearly killed me!! I mean seriously, who puts these people in positions of power?!?!

I loved the above section – just look at the artwork.  Just LOOK!!  Goddamn it Blizzard you guys are amazing.  Adding this to my header section as well because it is just stunning.

After this I am told I have to go and kill some animals spread all over the Broken isles. Then get a plate to serve all the food on for Odyn to then make you fight his entire dungeon…I mean the dude is huge, he could have taken 4 steps and put me out of my misery immediately.

He finally gives me all the power!!

and I go on my merry way.  To…The Nighthold.  Kudos to Ben, Oui and Nelly for doing the baby mythics I needed to get to this stage.  I figure the next part is going to hurt as I need raid bosses which is why I have been pushing to get to it as quickly as possible.

Everyone decided to give The Nighthold a try with me, which I was ecstatic about! We weren’t sure how far we would actually get through with the 4 of us, but as luck would have it, Fred jumped online and he didn’t respond to Nelly’s question of coming with us, so I just ninja invited him and woo!  he accepted 😀

We burnt through 5 bosses and I got 2 Nightshards. But the 5 bosses were pretty easy really.  We still needed to know some of the start involved and had I done this without Nelly and Fred I would have been dead soo quickly. They were giving me all the information!

I particularly like this achievement from killing Trillax.

It is nice to know Nighthold can be done with a 5 man group, and I suggested if people were free we maybe look at continuing tomorrow night before shut down.  So we shall see how that goes.  Fred also made comment about doing an alt run for all the old raids – can’t say I would complain at the moment.  Especially if doing Nighthold 🙂  I am being so selfish!  ahaah

Of course the part fo the night was calling Nelly a playboy bunny….but tell me it isn’t accurate? REOW!

Toons, Toons everywhere

I finally moved my demonhunter over from the alliance.  I have completely forgotten how to play but it has been enjoyable trying to remember. So my guild has now snaffled my Mage, Druid, Paladin and Demonhunter.

I managed to get quite a few achievements on her with the random dungeons and questing in the first few days, but I am now wanting to get the demonhunter class mount.

Not because it is attractive mount, as far as most of them go it is bloody ugly. But it would be nice to have the storyline completed and done on all my max level characters.

Demon hunters are so much fun to play, I am super surprised we don’t have any raiding DH’s. It is half tempting to try and play one properly but at the moment I am just smooshing keys 😀  I had been sending her heaps of gear from my other characters, you know the stuff that drops for classes and is account bound and can be sent anywhere!!!  woo!  One of the best changes ever made imho.

Playing her though has made me think about what toon I still want to boost to 110. I really want to level my warrior because I want to see the class hall, but I have to level him through Draenor and would rather stab myself in the foot, but every other toon I have is stuck at 90 simply because of Draenor.

Lost Mail

I have been randomly checking out Dalaran for the lost mail envelope. Not with any great amount of seriousness but just incase.  I actually found it last night!

It is a little bit of fun, and on the plus side if you get the first achievement completed you get another lost mail item to send to someone.

So you receive a quest to start you off:

You go and check out Madam Goya and some poor orcs life is spared as you turn up just in time for him to have paid off his debt to her.

The post master summons you after that to a pipe near the pet cemetery and you drop into an awesome looking room.  My new favourite location honestly.

It is such a cool room, floating mail and little elementals etc.  I adore everything about this room.  The post master sends you on a couple of missions, one carrying some heavy stones which is in relation to a story about someone who sent bricks through the postal service as it was the cheapest method of delivery. You can read about it here.

Once you complete that he sends you to ICC to collect Invincible Reins and then find Johnny Awesome who is relaxing by some hot springs.

This is where the fun starts for me, you are supposed to deal with a goblin. Except. The Goblins hate me. Mostly all of them.  I blame my Bloodsail Admiral title of course.

Of course it took me forever to realise the goblin wouldn’t talk to me, until Drew eventually notices a comment about reputation.  So I had to go to Tanaris and kill mobs for 5 rep per kill until I reached neutral with Gadgetzan.  Thankfully I had started working on my rep a few xpacs ago so it only took about 20  minutes with the super fast spawn rate of the pirates now.

After all that you get The Total Package. You get a lovely pet as well Mailemental, look how cute he is with his little envelope? Gah. I love the little details.

After sorting 30 envelopes in under 1 minute you also get an achievement Post Haste.  A name of a place pops up on screen and you have to select the correct mail tube for it to be sent into.  It is harder than is sounds.  Ultimately Drew completed this before me, after calling me a WoW nerd and saying I would be able to ace it.  I did then complete it after him so I don’t feel quite so guilty.

Kalimdor, Eastern Kingdoms, Outland, Northrend, Pandaria, Broken Isles is the order of the tubes above.  To get the Postmaster title you have to do it with only partial names.  So as an example Brill, Tirisfal Glades pops up and you select the Eastern Kindgom tube.  In the Postmaster achievement you would only get Brill pop up.  Tis ok for somewhere like Brill but when it gives you a random city from one of the xpacs it is so much harder.

I am not there yet…but I am going to keep going.

Raiding: Is it a wipe or a kill?

Woo!  Wooooo!!  You know what that means.  Epicness follows below.

Tonight started rough, we wiped a couple of times due to just random assortment of bad luck, but we improved dramatically on phase 3 with some better set up for adds. It was good to see it coming together. We got him to 4% and I swear it was almost as bad as seeing a 1%.  I was dead so this was the lowest I saw.

It was such a tease. We brought a few other people in from <Old Dogz> guild, I am sorry I can’t remember everyone’s names. We smashed it out a few more times and then BAM!

Ahead of the Curve: Argus

I haven’t decided if this was a wipe or a kill?  The only person “up” was Jason in non corporeal form.  This was at the end of the fight and not the end of phase 3 – I promise.  I have also just noticed whilst typing this, his title is Dragonslayer and I feel that explains why he lets me die maybe?  He dislikes dragons. Heartbroken.

I can’t believe we killed Argus, I can only assume DOT’s did it?

There is just nothing I can say that explains how excited I am about having that achievement. It has been a long time since I was raiding at any time or in any capacity to get the Ahead of the curve achievements.

On a selfish level, I never in a million years, thought I would ever be tanking with a raid team to the point of being able to actually complete content. Tanking has always been one of those things that I watched with awe. How could they do it, keep mobs, stay alive, watch aggro, taunt on time, stay out of stuff etc etc. I didn’t think I would ever be saying that I helped the guild achieve this. I mean they were mostly through the content, and I am not sure how much I have actually helped on some bosses, but it still feels pretty good to me.

There are few things I covet more in game than mounts.   Ever since we did the original quest in legion to ride one of these I said I wanted one.  I had to get it no matter what it took.  Thankfully it was a mount we could eventually get. Once you kill Argus on heroic or above you get The Blood of the Unmaker and all you need to do is hand it in to Khadgar in Dalaran.  He gives you the most beautiful mount (with the exclusion of Ashes of A’lar) in the game – the Violet Spellwing.

Here is a picture of the guildies on their mounts.  As the mounts don’t sit we had to take a flying picture. So much awesome in such a cool picture.

We attempted to get Fred his trinket from the Doggies. We didn’t manage to get that for him…again. We did the council without issue and then went to Portal Keeper Wankbalar.  God I hate him.  I try so hard to not stand in the green stuff and it just gets me like….1 time and it just kills everything.

The raid ended on a downer after that due to my idiocy.  Which makes everything I felt above dissipate into shame and guilt about being crap.  But then I looked at my mount and I felt happy again because I helped the guild get that mount and achievement.

We streamed the night again and still had no issues with my laptop or anything which I am happy about. I managed to put a little overlay on my chat window which Craig believes was crap….but like…my skillz aren’t leetzor dude.

Go guildies!!!!!  I am so happy right now 😀

Finally ending stories

For the longest time since returning to WoW and collecting the pillars of creation I had wondered how to get the last one. The elusive Eye of Amun’thul. I desperately wanted to close off the story and having so many quests in my log I honestly could not work which lead where, so whilst down with a headcold I decided to try and close off the raid quests in my log and run some LFR’s.

I got through so many raids and received exactly zero gear for my mage.  Not one item. Bah humbug.

Anyway I discovered after killing Guldan,  Khadgar makes you carry the thing back to Dalaran with him! How easy is that?  Seriously. It was one boss fight away from me.

I was so happy to have finally completed that story line!  It was bugging me.  Of course after he places the eyes in the Dalaran dungeon, you head back to Suramar and have chat to Occuleth – because nothing every really ends when you think it does in WoW.  I wish I had completed that story before doing the allied races as it perhaps would have made a little more sense.

Either way, you get another mount – The Arcanist’s Manasaber!!

It flies and has gorgeous purple wings and cute little hanging feet. Adorable.  Honestly the entire thing took me maybe 10 minutes from start to finish outside of the Gul’dan killing part, really could have done that much sooner if I had any clue.

After completing that I was also finally, FINALLY, able to complete something that has been irritating me for a while due to the RNG nature of WOW. Yup Defender of the Broken Isles!

It has been one of those things that every single time I see an assault it is one of the others.  This achievement has been sitting like this for a long time.  I am so glad I logged in this morning with a foggy head to see if it was up.

After a short scenario in which I got completely lost and separated from my party because I stupidly didn’t see the stairs to the tower on the left, I finally got this one done.  I was happy to see Cenarious grant me his antler, I am sure he can regen one pretty easily.  My only really beef is that it doesn’t grant us a title.  Blizzard seems reticent to hand out titles anymore but I loved them, it gave my character just a little something different and we should be commemorated for saving the Broken Isles from the legion.

Both these achievements have been in the back of my mind and now they are done, I feel so much happier.  Now if i could just get through the quests for my professions (although I have a feeling they actually never end) because they take up so much room in my quest log.  Both Alchemy and Tailoring give me 3 – 4 quests at a time and they involve a mix of heroic/mythic stuff.  It is just messy.  The quest log should 2 things – a number so you can tell how many quests you actually have – I am sure it used to (?) and it should let you sort by dungeon/raid quests so you can see how many you have in say MoS without having to click through each quest.

Either pretty happy with those two massive plot lines completed. YAY! <happy dance>
