Questing – without legendaries

You know I joke about it but I managed to get to 200 world quests completed the other day – and I have done quite a few more since then, and I am still yet to see a legendary.

What is the most painful is that my twitter feed and guild chats are full of people getting them within a couple of hours of reaching 110. Hey I only dinged 20 minutes ago and look at my legendary!!

I get so annoyed. Lominari laughs. I huff. Every single time.

I have even asked a couple of times in guild chat if Blizzard are watching to find out why I have no legendary love. I have managed to get my ilevel to 850 without a legendary but that doesn’t make it any better.  Lominari hasn’t managed to get a second one on his priest yet though and we are doing the dailies together so that fills me with a little satisfaction. I think it would kill me if he got a second before I got my first one.

I wondered if there was something I needed to do to activate a signal in the system that I was able to have one, but that make little to no sense given some people just ding and get them. So I went hunting for information. This is what I found.

Trust the EU players to come up with this stuff. You can find the full spreadsheet here if you are interested. Basically as someone with no legendary I need to some Heroics and LFR’s, neither of those things are overly time consuming and if it helps me get the shiny orange text pop up who am I too resist.

Yes I know, gear isn’t everything! However in this instance that is just a lie someone tells you when they have legendaries!!

Pet Battles: Taming everything in site.

This is a much harder challenge than I thought it would be.

Much harder.

I had no idea where I was up to when I decided to do this so I headed to Orgrimmar and picked up the first section.  I decided to do them in order as it would just be easier to remember where I was at. I found out I was up to Northrend. I had done more than I realised, which led me to notice that I only need about 10 more battles to get my Safari Hat. This was all very positive.

Until I stated reading about the strats needed for most of these fights. Aside from the Anubisath Idol, I didn’t have a lot of options. This made it exceedingly difficult on almost all the trainers. However with a little tweaking and some very wonderful help from RNGJeebus I managed to get Northrend under my belt.

I really wish I had kept a record of all the pets I had used against which tamers.  I would have loved to have updated the wowhead posts for all the other people like me that don’t have a huge selection of the right pets. If anyone knows of an in game way I can find out what I used please let me know!

On this last fight I used Fel Flame, Shrine Fly and Dancing Water Skimmer.  I had to go and level my Fel Flame to 25 (from 23) and my Shrine Fly with some coins but honestly it was well worth it to defeat this one after many attempts.

So much joy when getting that achievement!

Pet Battles: You can never have too many?

I was discussing pets in guild the other day, and mentioned that I was going to start chasing the achievements for taming/collecting etc.  I never really got into it originally with the amount of time needed to devote to the levelling, however recently I have remembered that battling doesn’t take a huge amount of time and is at least a bit of a challenge.

The celestial tournament was what I had my sights set on, but given most of the strats call for pets I simply either didn’t have or were level 1- it was time to bite the bullet. Celestial tournament is the end goal  – to reach that I needed to get more pets to 25, to do that I needed my Safari hat (and charms) and that meant completing the Tamer achievements for the world.

Before I began my mission though Antheriel and Limpywtf caught up with me in Dalaran and donated so many pets to me that I am still losing my mind over it. They were all duplicates for them but for me it was an almost spiritual level event.  So many of them will be useful when I get the levelled and I really just cannot express how grateful I am too them. Nelly sat on vents with me and went trough all her duplicates while Limpywtf just added pets to the bank for me to run off with if I was missing them (I missed out on Syd the Squid as I couldn’t remove anything else for the day and by the time I got back the next day he was gone).

Abyssius is one I want to level because he is so gorgeous looking!

The Sandling and Imp are very cool looking but then the Firewing suits my whole fire mage look so perfectly that I feel such a stunning creature should be levelled asap. See, look how fiery and gorgeous she is! Just look!

The featured image for this post is the Sunfire Kaliri which was also lovingly donated, but it is also very theme appropriate for my fire mage – I just can’t decide between the above Firewing or the Kaliri.

Neither Nelly or myself could pronounce Cyrukh – so I feel I should change his name to Nelly.  I always like to change the names of pets to the characters of the people that game them to me; it helps remind me of the donation and the history of each pet, but this lot is going to be a massive struggle I think.  I can’t come up with that many variants 😀

The whelping will be added to my long list of dragons requiring levelling – since I am obsessed with Dragons I feel it is only appropriate that I level every single one I get my hands on.  Such hard work though!

The Sister is absolutely gorgeous – my very own mini succubus.  She even makes the whip noises and I simply cannot describe how much I adore this pet. I have always laughed about the whole warlock wanting to me mages thing – but imho mages should – in all honesty – be able to have pets – we are masters of the arcane, dammnit! – there should be a spec dedicated entirely to summoning creatures/elemental beings to do our damage during fights.

Of course the last little cutie was this little fella.  OMG look at those little furry feet, and the horns! GAH!  I like the Talbuk creature so this is just fun to have, I really wish we could have more than 1 pet running around with us – like a pet battle group but always around. Obviously that would be pretty intensive on the game if all of us did that, but I can have dreams right?!

Not only that but Antheriel also emailed me her noes about the Celestial tournament, all her plans/groups and tactics etc.  I cannot wait to get cracking on that section of Pandaria. I am sure her notes will help me through!

I cannot thank both Antheriel or Limpywtf enough for the amount of pets they gave me.  I owe them so much love and if I could have hugged them in real life I would! A blog post hardly seems like good enough payment for the joy. As I assured Nelly, they are going to a very loving home who will ensure they are looked after. I feel so very lucky!

Z & Cinder Blog Challenge: Topic 12 – Design your own zone.

Design your own zone…

If you could design a zone in Azeroth what would be there? Would it be a haunted zone with castles and ghosts floating around or  one where all the food vendors of Azeroth could be found in one place offering you daily cooking quests? Are there specifics races or environments you don’t feel get enough attention? Use your imagination and tell us what zone you’d really like to see in WoW.

Ok I know I am a week behind, but don’t judge me!  I really wanted to write about this topic after reading Zerirah’s post.

I was thinking along the same lines as her with one part – and that is the constant change.  However I wanted my zone to actually be a massive old stone dragon which a city was built into.  If you imagine something like Minas Tirath but in dragon form.

I would like to see dragonesque NPC’s perhaps affected by old lingering magic so they have changed over the thousands of years to become more draconic.

I was thinking you could have a quest hubs within parts of the dragon so quest hub between the claws, then another quest hub on the tail end, some on the wings etc. I would incorporate the grappling hook function as that is awesome!!

I was thinking something like this because of the dragonsoul fights, if you remember the size of Deathwing, we were very small compared – especially since you could fit so many people on his back at one 😀 Living/walking in and around a massive dragon would be cool – I don’t want us to be like, living in his internals, but you could build over the stone dragon and live within the folds of his wings/legs/tail etc.

If I had any skills with art I would attempt to draw it but there is no way i can even attempt it!  Any artists who want to have a go – feel free 🙂 I would appreciate it!

I would have very old trees/rainforesty so it looked a lot like this:

I would like to see the constant evolution of story or change etc to the zone as well so it wasn’t always the same due to the magic of the dragon but even the world quest type situation would be better than nothing. I would prefer the quests be more pacifist than fighting style etc so perhaps hatching dragons, planting trees, locating scales with problems for rectification etc.  Non violent means of questing!!

Well I like it as an idea!

Here are some of the other posts on the topic!

Cinder Says

PETS!! So many pets!

I am actually a little surprised that I have so many.  I just wish I was as keen on levelling them as collecting.

Lominari asked me how many pets I actually had and I discovered it was only 597 – with an achievement for 600 I decided to go and hunt some down.

After having run Trial of the Crusader in 25 man heroic and having a pet drop whilst chasing argent tourney seals we decided to do ICC 25 man heroic and see if any would drop.  Nope.

So I decided I would just hunt some down the old fashioned way.  Thanks to Warcraft pets I figured out where I would find the most amount of battle pets I had left to collect.

My 600th by pure random chance was a lovely blue pet! I get so few blues so it was very nice to see, I seem to have a huge amount of grey quality ones!!

This goes well with the Legion achievement I got the other day when doing world quests.  I had spent (the previous day) about an hour riding around Felsoul Hold killing the spiders for the last one to spawn and had given up.

Whilst with Lominari (of course), we happen to stumble across the last little bugger!!  You have to kill the Thornclaw Broodling as they share a spawn timer with the Vicious Broodling (which is always a rare quality!).  But this Vicious one was sitting there doing nothing, all alone.  Just waiting to be scooped up!!

We also won’t discuss how Lominari managed to stumble across the rug needed for the Dust Bunny pet as well, then asked me what it was about.  This happened a couple of days after I finally managed to get it (2 weeks in total with checking all the points in Dalaran for the rug whenever I was nearby and overtime I logged on and before I logged off).  He just stumbled on it…..

The guy has more luck than anyone should have!!

The Long forgotten Hippogryph

When I say that Lominari would do pretty much anything required for Talbuk’s or hippogryph mounts, you have to understand I really mean it.  Spend hours farming rare mobs; no problem, farm hundreds of stupid ogre coins; easy.

Happen upon a glowing pink crystal and then spend the next hour chasing them down – done!

My lucky, lucky husband told me what he was doing when he was on the 4th crystal.  He was so nervous about not being able to find the 5th one,  so I headed to Azsuna to help him.  Of course it was me that found the 5th crystal for him, so I do take full credit, sadly I should have kept that small piece of luck for myself.

Here he is grabbing it!  I missed the text which says he has been found but I didn’t realise until after I had logged out.

Lominari is now considering doing the recruit a friend for the Emerald one because we are also doing the Argent tournament again for him to get the one from up there, Silver Covenant. He started with 1oo seals and only needs 150, so it should only take a couple of days and he will be all mounted up with his favourites.

As a side note: I found one of the crystals this morning and spent 3 hours searching – I only found 3 of the required 5.  3 hours. With Lominari running around as well including tom tom points!  No luck.

He disputes this game loves him.  Even though he jumped on his demonhunter yesterday (a toon we got to max level and then did pretty much nothing else on) and ran a mythic with some friends – scored a Legendary!!

Lominari – 2 // Dragonray – 0  <<  Legendary scores.

But nope, he isn’t lucky.

The mount os gorgeous looking though.  I am so very jealous of him!  At least it suits him when he is shadow form with all the purple and pinks.

Heroes of the Storm Mount

I used to play DOTA2 – briefly. Maybe 3 months we played it with some friends so HoTS is not unfamiliar territory to me and I did download when it came out with the intention of playing but no one else I knows plays.  Like Overwatch – all my friends are WoW players first so it makes it hard but even aside from that – I don’t generally have the time to play as much as I would love to.

But I managed to convince Lominari to help me out with this one yesterday – it took us 3 hours to complete the 15 matches.  We did the first 8 or so with beginner level AI, and the rest with the recruit level (which was a little more challenging).  I thought I was taking screenshots during the game but turns out I didn’t, so you guys are lucky you get a post filled with Blizzard pictures instead!

I played Jaina to start with as we didn’t really have many options available and I didn’t want to play a healer.

Lominari played Muradin the entire time:

After the 4th match I started switching between Jaina and Anub’arak:

I really enjoyed it, the maps were great and had different requirements with altars, temples, curses etc.  It was a lot of fun. I would possibly play more if I had others who were keen, however I think I would prefer to play Overwatch if given the choice between the two. Although, you could potentially create the same group of 5 players for both games as casual people and just have a bit of fun switching what you played each week. (That would be my ideal situation).

In the end we got close to a couple of losses however we triumphed and we won all 15 games and successfully got our awesome mount in WoW!

And you get this lovely little package delivered to your collection tab.  Am I the only one who misses the mounts and pets being delivered to your mailbox with a little note expressing different sentiments?  I know it was painful setting up new toons and spending 20 minutes at a post box but it felt that little bit more personal.  You just can’t have it both ways I guess?

When you hit the spacebar, flames come out the side – as a fire mage, this gets me excited because it matches my transmog and style.

And finally a normal picture of the awesomeness:

The event ends on the 13th March so if you want to get it done, I would suggest you get cracking.  3 hours was constant play for us and some experience with the type of game play needed.  I would be very happy to jump into groups if needed – just yell out 🙂

Profession: Fishing

I have been fishing a lot recently in aid of upping my cooking skills.  I figure they will work together except for the slight issue of needing so any ingredients for each recipe, however on the bright side, it might mean a second cook book or even me attempting to make my own Warcraft recipes!

The biggest salvation which I realised too late is that they made the raft from Pandaria an actual toy.  No more having to carry it around – brilliant!

I got an enchanted lure at some point and decided to use it and see what happened. Got an achievement – that’s what! For catching a rare fish.

Which made me wonder what else I had been catching and not paying attention to: over 10 Leyscale Koi – thanks for Ancient Mana, a Magic frog (I picked up another one later but was a fish not a frog – same principle though).

And this gem of a find:

Yup, I was carrying around a murloc for god knows how long; no wonder my back started to hurt so when I decided to slap him and stop him from getting a free ride. Isn’t he adorable….NOT!! Filthy murloc!

My fishing is at about 750 I think and my cooking is approx 740 so a super long way to go no matter which way you look at it sadly, but as I have one maxxed profession now, I need to keep pushing for the others.  I should really get focused on that alchemy and tailoring – but my god the expense.  Gahh!!  I only just hit 100k for the first time in my WoW life and I don’t want to waste any of it!
