I hadn’t realised how long it was since I posted and in fact even played WoW. I have been neglecting the second love of my life horribly. Hopefully this post about the third love of my life will make up for it somewhat.
My usual New years tradition (has been for the last 6 years) has been to LAN with some friends and play WoW until the wee hours of the morning. We normally chase dungeon/raid achievements for mounts etc which is a lot of fun. This year our usual gathering was not possible so we offered it to another group of friends we played with. IN the end the thought of having to unpack PCs etc was so unappealing they decided to just come over and play tabletop instead.
We played quite a few different games over the course of the night and had an absolute blast. It was nice to chill out, have some drinks and just relax. It did feel weird not being in game though, even if we did get to see real fireworks in my local area instead of ingame ones!
What does any of this have to do with cooking you say? Of course having Azerothian friends I had to make something from the cookbook!
Beer-basted Boar Ribs. Oh hell yes. I would make the every weekend if I had the time.
They were not hard to make, but it is time consuming as you need to baste the ribs every 30 minutes. You make the sauce first which I wasn’t sure would be enough:
and then begin to cover the ribs evenly. This was the first acting they received, as you can see the sauce is quite thick.
After 3 hours I can honestly say, these are gorgeous. Stunning. The droves of Ironforge really knew what they were doing when they created this recipe.
The end product looks like something straight from heaven. We had a couple left over the next day which we had for lunch and whilst they were just as nice flavours the next day, reheating in the microwave game them a slightly rubbery texture (as expected). I would suggest you eat them all immediately when out of the oven. Just keep shoving them in until you have finished them! You will not regret it. Much.
